Laurie Walker
Re: Laurie Walker
The club must be aware of the speculation. If Laurie is injured, why not tell us? But tbh it sounds unlikely that someone who (apart from an injury in the warm up v Oldham last season) was an ever present until he was suddenly replaced by Keeley would be injured for over a month and nothing be said.
The other thing is that we currently have 5 loan players - Keeley, Maguire-Drew, O'Donkor, Thompson, Hartigan. So with Keeley taking up a place, there's no point in us signing any more loan players because we're only allowed to have 5 in a matchday squad.

Well that's not the point is it - there are obvious differences in the situation, hence the different reaction.john dockers shorts wrote: ↑11 Feb 2024, 14:58Point is Gormo was first on team sheet, Hartigan comes in and he loses his place.djhdjh wrote: ↑11 Feb 2024, 12:58Gorman was in and out of the side and coming off the bench when he wasn't starting. Bit different (inevitably for a goalkeeper to some extent) to Walker's situation.john dockers shorts wrote: ↑11 Feb 2024, 11:12 We all love Laurie and his antics.
I don't remember the lovin for Gorman when he lost his place.
Gormo hadn't put a foot wrong imo
And Walker was significantly better than Gorman last season (not that Gorman wasn't good) so complaining that there's a "love-in" for Walker seems a bit odd.
I don't really care either way, a GK is always above dropping compared to outfield.
Re: Laurie Walker
I thought Laurie was great for us, but I trust the managers judgement. Haven’t thought about it much beyond that.
Re: Laurie Walker
Haven’t seen the same level of interest towards Ben Wynter for example. Realistically if he wasn’t a fan favourite there wouldn’t be as much talk
Re: Laurie Walker
I’d argue that neither was Walker for a long period of time prior to Christmas. Despite the results for me we’ve looked much better at the back with Keeley and much less vulnerable, and will be better for it in the long term.

Has he been seen at training ?

Re: Laurie Walker
Interview was very very odd in that area. An awkward edit and an abrupt end to the interview suggests there is definitely more to the LW situation than meets the eye (as many have already speculated on here)
Re: Laurie Walker
I appreciate that Connor Smith can only say what he's been sent out to say but the final question at the end of every pre match interview is about injuries. In no previous interview has he ever mentioned LW. Now out of the blue he mentions "his injection".
He last played on 30th December. Why was he on the bench for the next 2 matches other than if he'd been dropped? Why has it taken about 6 weeks since he last played to get an injection?
Keeley is on loan until the end of the season. Unless he is unavailable we all know he won't lose his place.

Re: Laurie Walker
The Laurie Walker situation is Very frustrating and annoying, since his time with us he has grown into a rightly so a fans favourite, and unless we are missing something ( which we are ) I feel the way this has been handled is not right to say the least, is he injured ? Is this why he has not even made the bench ?, But now I read Laurie is doing a 62 mile run in MARCH ( not at end of season ) to raise money for cancer research, so this I would say blows him being out injured out of the water, yes in games he has made mistakes but he has saved us more points than he has lost us. Just leaves a bad taste how his situation has been handled by DB.
