Happened to meet Sam Skeffington in Hanoi this evening. He’s quit football, real shame as when he was with us he was brilliant. Says travelling is a lot more fun than football.

That just blows my mind. He was so good in that period under Bassey. What a waste.

Talent alone won't get a player anywhere if the attitude isn't right.

Guess is heart wasn’t in it. Saying travelling is a lot more fun than football, fair enough at least he’s honest and hope he finds his calling! So many would have given anything to be a pro footballer, I know I would have. Very good player with us.

He said we offered him a long term deal but the money wasn’t great so went to Bromley. Didn’t really probe on why he thinks it went wrong but seems like he’s in a good place and happy so that’s the most important thing.

Had a great couple of chats with him this season when he was at Erith & Belverdere and after a Cray Wanderers game too, such a lovely lad. From speaking to him it also contributed that we didn't have a manager in place, he lives not far from Hayes Lane, no brainer for him.

Certainly a player in there, Smudger tried to get it out of him at Cray last year but didn't happen. Certainly looks to be having a blast travelling, watching via his Insta.
