Gateshead Statement

Post: # 373282Post Si1970 »

A very interesting statement from Gateshead FC which appears to suggest that Aldershot didn’t want to consider a delayed kick-off last night.

Aldershot got the train upto Newcastle on Monday afternoon and stayed overnight to be ready for the game. They were prepared but the pitch was unplayable despite the comical efforts of the groundstaff. Not sure what Gateshead are hoping to achieve making statements like that.

Comments on Aldershot message board make it clear that the weather was to blame. Someone even said Aldershot were remonstrating with the officials to get the match on.
Regardless, we all know the decision isn't made by the clubs. It's completely down to the referee.

The guy shouting (apparently) is the Gateshead chairman who is unhappy that Aldershot don't want to to play on a waterlogged pitch.

So Gateshead now have to fit in 5 games in a week and a half providing the weather co operates. Could that be playing straight into our hands with them having to win at least 4 games at the moment to catch us

And they'll be knackered in the playoffs. I suspect they'll finish 4th, which means if they reach the semifinal, it will be their 7th game in 17 days.
