Kidderminster Harriers (THTS) The Hawkward Goodbye Match Thread
So....... Saturday sees the bees sign off their regular season at The Hive Temporary Stadium against Kidderminster Harriers in the Bananarama League.
After a convincing win against Halifaccrington the Bees go in to this game knowing that a point will be enough to see them finish 2nd ahead of Outhouse FC. Brennan has suggested he will take this game seriously in terms of team selection so expect to see a fairly strong starting lineup given we don't have an eliminator to worry about and he will want to iron out the kinks.
For the Harriers what had looked like being an aerial battle against Boreham Wood has turned in to a graceful plummet in recent weeks as they have amassed a mere 4 points from 5 games. This has been eagley pounced on by the 85%ers and the other relegation perennials and their swift return to NLN was confirmed last Saturday. Hopefully they will come back stronger for the experience and give the National League a real go next time, although 45 points is a fairly high total to be relegated on.
Pritchard was due back in training this week but with no news on Thompson and Oluwu still struggling I think Brennan may be forced to play the hand dealt to him and stick with a 4-3-3 formation which I would be happy with anyway.

--------------------------------------Gorman-------------------------------------Hartigan--------------------------------
---------------------O'Donkor-------------------------------Brunt---------------------------------Freeman---------------

Subs: Stevens, Hall-Johnson, Kanu, Pritchard, Sread
Picked Freeman over Stead as I think he needs the minutes more.
Away for this one. Hopefully we can pick up the win. COYBS

Hartigan is on 13 yellow cards, might be worth omitting him on Saturday as 15 yellows is a 3 match ban!
Re: Kidderminster Harriers (THTS) The Hawkward Goodbye Match Thread
Surely Play-Off games don't count for this!? Only regular season games?
I love Luisma & really miss his skils!

Hope to see us go full noise at them for 60 mins get a couple of goals up, maybe more a la Dorking, then bring the 3 players off who need the rest most ready for next week. Finish the regular season strong instead of a whimper like daggers game last season.

I agree with your point but Kiddy are far more solid defensively than Dorking and have conceded one of the lowest totals in the league, fewer than us. They’re the lowest scorers though.

Accept that but this is a relegated side we're facing , Phil Brown unlikely to be around next season, we need a win for second so an attacking side featuring any of kabamba, GOD, Stead, Kanu, freeman, brunt etc should be licking their lips at the prospect of Saturday.rudebwoyben wrote: ↑17 Apr 2024, 17:02I agree with your point but Kiddy are far more solid defensively than Dorking and have conceded one of the lowest totals in the league, fewer than us. Personally I don’t care what team starts on Saturday. Rest and rotate whoever Dean feels fit, the game is dead. I know we can finish 3rd but the reality is we are in the top 3 for a reason- we are a better side than every team in this division bar chesterfield, and shouldn’t care who we face in the play offs. Saturday, Sunday, not fussed. Bring it on

We rested the first starters for the final fixture last season and it didn't work. Obviously rest / sub players who have injury issues but the best way to succeed in P.O.s seems to be by going into them in winning form.Jdk103 wrote: ↑18 Apr 2024, 06:24 Personally I don’t care what team starts on Saturday. Being 2nd or 3rd gives us a much longer rest between games, we need to go full strength to keep the sharpness and the momentum.
Re: Kidderminster Harriers (THTS) The Hawkward Goodbye Match Thread
Yeah, it was a completely different scenario last season with the play-off game on the Tuesday. Far from resting everyone, if we didn’t have a match this weekend we’d be arranging a friendly for the first-teamers to play in to keep them match fit! Whether they play at absolutely full tilt for 90 minutes, with the risk of injuries and suspensions, is another matter.

Fine balance though. We also need to avoid needless injury.Beesting wrote:Being 2nd or 3rd gives us a much longer rest between games, we need to go full strength to keep the sharpness and the momentum.
