Ok so what teams will be in this?
When will they be played? Is it like the EFL trophy then 1 game in first 3 months?
Presume it going to be a regional tournament until knockout stages?

So we can't have F A Cup replays but we can have this pointless ( for us) competition?

What level of support have the U21s been getting in EFL Trophy when they've played EFL teams? Presumably it will be comparable when they play NL teams. I don't imagine much support from the NL supporters. Maybe similar to the level of support in the earlier rounds of F A Trophy. Certainly I don't see myself necessarily bothering.

The top 16 clubs from this season ‘qualify’ (hooray! Go us!) for this competition. The big winners are the other 8 clubs and those in the National Leagues North and South, because they don’t have to play in this abomination of a competition but will get a share of the cash the Premier League is chucking in for the National League as part of the deal. In return for the cash, the National League is chucking in its 16 top clubs for this training exercise for the Premier League juniors.

Groups of 8 teams, comprised of 4 NL clubs and 4 PL youth teams. We would play each of the PL teams, ie it’s at least four additional midweek games. We still have FA Cup replays in the 4th qualifying round. In light of all that, I can see another poorly designed fixture schedule which does not have enough league games earlier in the season, leaving little slack for rearranged games later on.

The u21s get minimal support in the Football League Trophy. The games are often played at the same time as their club’s senior team.

why can`t there be replays in the FA cup up to the 3rd round as that is when the premier league clubs enter and its they who say they are playing too many games, so is this an idea from the league bosses to even everything up by making every team in every league play the same ammount of games?
Maybe a condition that non league has to play more competitions to justify the premier league giving up more of its money?

It’s not just Premier League clubs concerned about too many games - we missed out on a first trip to Wembley in 51 years last season when our manager felt he had to rest our best two players for a semi final because of fatigue due to the number of games!

Or because he thought they weren't fit enough to manage 90 minutes then play again a week later.

It was two days later! We had too many games in too short a space of time, with midweek games every week. So adding at least 4 more midweek fixtures for our first team so that they can help Premier League youth players to develop is just a brilliant idea

Brennan explained later that Kabamba and De Havilland weren’t injured for the Gateshead game, but were fatigued due to the relentless run of fixtures. He brought them on at half time and then started them two days later at York.

I suppose there will be penalties for those that make too many changes to the starting 11 from the previous league game.
