They're in this category for me too. I started supporting the Bees in the 90s and, frankly, I didn't even know Wealdstone existed for at least a decade after that, if not longer! Even then, they were just an Isthmian League team of complete irrelevance.EastBarnetFan wrote: ↑20 Sep 2024, 11:27I was referring to it from a derby/rivalry perspective. I may be wrong but growing up in the 00s supporting Barnet, I never even heard of Wealdstone, let alone in a negative light, and only Enfield and at the time Stevenage as a side we disliked.jerroll wrote: ↑20 Sep 2024, 10:35Hardly just sprung up in the last decade, we have played 122 games vs Weardstones winning 57 drawing 21 and losing 44!!football didn't start in 1992 like the premier league makes out!!EastBarnetFan wrote: ↑20 Sep 2024, 09:36 Might be because of our league positioning and focus, whilst they're in the relegation mix.
It's a bit of a lopsided derby generally anyway, one that's sprung up in the last decade. Will it last forever? who knows but it's certainly a more interesting fixture than let's say against Fylde and local-ish of course.
For those that are in the area during the day, Ruislip lido is great nearby, especially for families. I recommend the train circuit! Pub on-site for some beers and roast. I'll be checking out Harrow on the hill for the first time, heard it has some lovely views.
I fondly remember that LDV Vans Trophy game against Stevenage at home midweek (must have been 03 or 04?), skittles and all sorts being thrown between the small congregation section. Those were the days..
Saying that, they do seem to have a comparable fanbase to ourselves (unlike a complete nonentity like Boreham Wood), so when you factor in that, the ground situation, the damage they seem to enjoy doing to The Hive etc, I am starting to consider it a more 'proper' derby than I would have previously.

Sorry if it’s already been addressed but match doesn’t seem to be on the DAZN schedule. Are they still not broadcasting through their own platform and only available on NLTV? And is that the full multi camera broadcast with presentation etc?
Re: Wealdstope (Away) The Match Even the Met Line Won't Go To
yes, full DAZN launch date is 22/10, 4 games have been moved to the Wednesday that week.

Despise most things about visiting the ground, but their pricing has always been very fair and excellent value and with the way prices in this league have been going it should be commended. Well done.

Wealdstope (Away) The Match Even the Met Line Won't Go To
In the 1980s Wealdstone were not far behind Enfield when it came to rivalry. There was the last game of the 84/85 season when Wealdstone were already champions of the conference and we beat them 7-0, their players had so obviously been on the champagne and cigars for the week before the game. There was no automatic promotion then, so it was down to a vote of league clubs as to whether someone was relegated/promoted or not. There was talk that the 7-0 meant Wealdstone's application was not taken seriously but I think their ground wasn't up to scratch in any case. From memory neither was Nuneaton s who came second ( and who would have won the league under normal circumstances - in 84-85 there was an experiment with 3 points for an away win, 2 for a home win). I think Bath city in 4th place were put forward for promotion but unsurprisingly didn't get the votes.thebeekeeper wrote: ↑20 Sep 2024, 13:16They're in this category for me too. Re: Wealdstope (Away) The Match Even the Met Line Won't Go To
When I started coming in the 1980s Wealdstone was most definitely a local derby and fans of both clubs cared about it. However, the rivalry did of course play second fiddle to the rivalry with Enfield which was even more intense.
However, I still have a very fond memory of the 6th May 1985 where we completed our season at home to Wealdstone who had just been crowned champions. We whomped them 7-0 (four goals for God)
This was start of an upswing in our fortunes - in the previous years both Wealdstone and Enfield were contenders while Barnet were also rans and our derby results didn't make pretty reading. The following year saw Enfailed win the league while Wealdstone finished 10th and we finished 14th, but we were starting to get a really good team together and the year after that we finished 2nd to Scarborough, doing the double over Enfailed and taking 4 points from Wealdstone.

I remember the game in 1988 when we won 6 nil, Herbie getting 2.
My Uncle hated Wealdstone. We watched Wealdstone beat Boston in FA Trophy final May 11th 1985, same day of Bradford fire incidentally.
Wealdstone captain and players celebrating thought my uncle was going to jump on the pitch and throttle him. Good old days!

l always found it pretty unbelievable in those mid-80's that Wealdstone and Enfield were champions regularly, whilst we were always bottom 1/3. It wasn't until 85 or so when Barry got us going.....(with Stans help!).... and how once automatic promotion came in, they both disappeared off the face of the earth...literally for 40 years !! (longer in Enfailed's case !). and we prospered...but not really because we were an intrinsically bigger club - we were all pretty similar - until we started getting runners up spots & our crowds started to grow aswell....

Nicky scored 11 times against them.

I remember the west bank absolutely full of wealdstone fans making a huge noise in the build up.johnnyfairbrotherbee wrote: ↑20 Sep 2024, 17:54In the 1980s Wealdstone were not far behind Enfield when it came to rivalry. To be fair to them they were still singing when the 7th goal went in.

Still early but just drove through Ruislip to park up and the only thing going on is dozens of police officers just milling about
