He’s a rock. Even at Maidenhead where we defended awfully as a whole, he was individually outstanding.

Along with Shelton he’s been my most pleasant surprise of the season. I think my reaction to him signing was that he’d be a good squad player but I wasn’t overly excited by it. That wasn’t based on having actually watched him play but rather due to associating his name with a few average, or below, NL sides over the past few years.

Now I’ve seen him in a Barnet shirt, I’m reminded that 90% of the time DB gets his recruitment spot on. I think it’s clear that he could comfortably be playing a division or two higher if it wasn’t for his injury record. Let’s hope he can keep him fit!

Good win with a clean sheet and both goals from forwards.
Stead could have had hatrick with chances he had, gets himself into a lot of good positions.

Started 1st half well but then after 15mins or so it got a bit sloppy.

We have quite a special team at the moment. A joy to watch. The team is so comfortable on the ball. Still felt nervous until the second goal but it is really enjoyable at the Hive.

Took a while to break them down but we got there in the end. The quality and depth is absolutely evident and we'll be seeing us dominate games like on Sat going forward. It will become a question of can we take our chances or not.

Great to see a large crowd witness the win too. Especially with the late goal to wrap things up nicely.

Can’t stop looking at the league table at the moment. Just makes for such satisfying viewing.

Can’t see York maintaining this form long term. If we pull clear of FGR this could be our season

Good manager and lots of investment are reasons not to write off York City.

From what I have seen, York are a really athletic side who play on the counter and travel with the ball a lot. Not sure they're going to find that quite so easy when some of the National League pitches start to get heavy.

That’s a big if! FGR have a manager who’s won this league and higher divisions before and they have vast resources to call on, having already signed League One-level players and top strikers at this level. They also seem to have avoided the customary culture shock that affects most teams relegated from the EFL. It’s the likes of FGR and Oldham I’m worried about, because they’ve got managers who’ve been there and done it and have all the resources they need and more to stay at the top and only get stronger.

None of which is to say we’ve been anything other than excellent, and of course we’ve got a damn good manager ourselves. I just think it’s going to take an incredible effort to win the title this season, especially considering the relative weakness of the bottom 6 or so, all of whom seem to be struggling to pick up any points against the top teams.

I've not seen York play this season so I've no idea. However they did recruit the Worthing manager late last season and he signed players from south coast clubs / area. There has to have been a fair financial incentive for these people to up sticks and move from one end of the country to the other. I wouldn't write them off any more than I would FGR.

I was at the Emirates last night and was surprised to see how similar the Arsenal playing style was to Barnet’s! Both teams work on possession football, keeping the ball, slow build ups, lots and lots of passes and few shots. Indeed, apparently Arteta, like DB, has told players not to shoot from outside the box. Like some Bees’ fans, some of the Gunners fans were calling “shoot” when they kept passing near the box. Has DB ever said which team he tries to emulate?
Like us Arsenal also got stuck a few times in the corner, making lots of short passes rather than crossing the ball early. In the Fylde game there were a couple of times when we made 15 passes in that area without a successful outcome. A major difference, of course, is that Arsenal have Saka who can magic his way through the crowd to cross or shoot. We have Kanu…
Our slow build up gives the opposition lots of time to drop back and get into defensive positions so we lose the advantage of our attackers having forward momentum.
Last night in the second half Arsenal were two nil up and just seemed content to keep the ball rather than attack. This meant that their fans were very quiet – not unusual at the Emirates. The same happened at the Hive in the game against Fylde. Our endless passing to no conclusion resulted in a very quiet crowd who, I dare say, were getting bored. I do hope that wasn’t the impression any newcomers felt.
BTW the PSG fans were amazing. They never stopped enthusiastically singing, clapping and jumping all game.
Here's hoping we can attack with more urgency and make our passes count especially as we will soon start to play teams in the top half of the table.

I have to agree with you, all this possession, grinding teams down whilst they're chasing the ball, keeping four clean sheets on the bounce, being leagues top goal scorers and being two points clear, I'm concerned fans may get bored....give me them days of Westley and McGhee

They were amazing to watch but I’m not sure how that type of support works for the team, it is just constant noise that seems completely unrelated to anything that is going on in the game. Loads of them seem to spend the entire game looking away from the pitch into the stands, and a lot of their chants seemed to be monotonously tedious. I doubt you see too many overweight PSG supporters at their away games, the physical effort they put in looks knackering.
