Straight to pens.PBBee wrote: ↑14 Oct 2024, 19:34 Vile draw on the whole, no decent gate money & a top team miles away (as is the norm for us).
Would’ve fancied us vs a League 2 team but think they’ll be a step too far, we do offer opportunities to teams that don’t less us have all the ball & of course this maybe the opposite.
Such a shame as with no replays this season it really wouldn’t have taken much out of the team an extra 3/4 games at most.
Anyone know if it goes to extra time or straight or penalties if we can hold out?
FA Cup 4th Qualifying Round

Wonder what TK thinks now about his public endorsement of the scrapping of replays? Surely it would have been in his interests to at the very least earn a hard earned draw to bring back to THL

Not best draw could have been worse though (Morecambe, Accrington away.)
Guess it good test for the players against a good football league team.

From a "progress at all costs" point of view, penalties after an away draw is a more likely avenue of success than drawing away and then playing a full 90, (even at home), and expecting to beat a side 2 leagues higher.
I think this tie proves his point exactly. We're more likely to progress with penalties than we are with a replay.

Chesham vs Lincoln, Sutton vs Birmingham City and Southend vs Charlton Athletic must all be shouts.

Talking of TV Shrewsbury v Exeter City live on Sky Sports on Thursday, kick off 8pm.

Thanks & I guess gives us a bit more of a chance (expect we may actually see some more upsets this year because of it). Even more annoying it wasn’t a slightly worse team with it straight to pens.BEEGONE wrote:Straight to pens.PBBee wrote: ↑14 Oct 2024, 19:34 Vile draw on the whole, no decent gate money & a top team miles away (as is the norm for us).

Also for anyone doing Hartlepool away next month beware that’s round 2 day & if they do overcome Brackley tomorrow night they have a home draw be Braintree.

Re: FA Cup 4th Qualifying Round
Not the greatest draw, but every cloud has a silver lining.
1. An opportunity to see how far we have come against a good League 1 team.
2. An outside chance of progressing if things land in the right place.
3. Nothing to lose as Exeter are expected to win. Which if that is the case it allows us to concentrate on the league rather than get stretched and distracted in the cup.

Only way I’d consider going is a supporters coach tbh. Gentle nudge BFCSA

Gutted. Exeter , just an hour and a bit away, is my nearest league side, but have to go to a ruddy wedding in Cyprus that weekend. Would have loved to have gone

Re: FA Cup 4th Qualifying Round
I imagine it's quite challenging for the BFCSA to put coaches on for these individual games, but I would also be interested in taking two seats if there is the demand and the inclination (if the game remains on Saturday).HarryBee92 wrote: ↑14 Oct 2024, 22:10 Only way I’d consider going is a supporters coach tbh. Re: FA Cup 4th Qualifying Round
It is virtually impossible to get an affordable coach for a 1 off match and will be difficult after the behaviour of certain individuals last time they ran one. Say a coach costs £1500 you would need 50 people paying £30 to break even , 40 paying £37.50 or 30 paying £50. Bearing in mind they have no subscription income do you expect the committee members to underwrite a cost of say £1500 to run a one off coach?HarryBee92 wrote: ↑14 Oct 2024, 22:10 Only way I’d consider going is a supporters coach tbh. Re: FA Cup 4th Qualifying Round
Coach is a nice idea but after what happened last year, not one I'd expect the BFCSA to consider. Also how popular would it really be? A very long journey for a match against a not especially exciting L1 club who on paper would be expected to beat us.
