Solihull Moors (Factory) The Laurie and Hardier Match Thread

Post match interview will be interesting!
Re: Solihull Moors (Factory) The Laurie and Hardier Match Thread
Not the end of the world obviously, but one thing HAS to be admitted but unfortunately will not be by those who count. The Solihull Manager has worked out exactly how Dean Brennan sets up his teams and knows how to counter it very effectively. Any other manager with a few brain cells should look at this match and the last season play-off game to see precisely what they have to do against us to get a result. Of course knowing what to do and being able to do it are two different things, but some teams will definately be able to do it.
If you want to play a high line, then your defence has to as quick if not quicker than the forwards you will face on the counter attack. If not you will be picked off time and time again by astute opponents, especially when they have been given a proven blueprint by teams that have demonstrated it in practice.
So will anything change at Barnet? I suggest not. When not playing against astute teams, Barnet will do well, but against the better teams a change in approach will probably be necessary to thwart their plans on how to beat us as per Solihull Moors. Will this approach be good enough for promotion? Time will tell.

Do we need another keeper Hayes not at the races again

Very similar to my post, totally agree with thisWhetstoneBee wrote: ↑19 Oct 2024, 15:23 Andy Whing has our number every single time and DB has absolutely no idea what to do about it. Same old story: play on the counter-attack against us with any vaguely decent, pacy winger or striker and you’ll score at least two. And we will do nothing about it.

What I can’t understand is: that at 2-1 and even 3-1, we’re still in the game. So why throw so many players forward and leave ourselves so ludicrously open?

Agreed. He could maybe have done better with the one-on-one but other than that I can’t see how he was at fault for anything today. The blame lies with DB for yet more suicidal tactics and failing to adapt, and Miles Kenlock. Interested to see whether DB will take responsibility or just blame “individual errors”/Kenlock.peterstebbings wrote: ↑19 Oct 2024, 16:12Have my reservations about him but can’t point the finger at him today

Today was down to mentality. Something wen’t badly wrong suddenly after half an hour. Their 3rd and 4th goals came off breaks forward after our player had BBC been fouled.

Do rate Kenlock, but damn he is slow! Just move on from today, Tuesday the real test whether or not we are title contenders or not.

York only conceded 7 goals to our 16, if we set up and play high back line I feel York will punish us, top managers ( doesn't mean top teams ) know how to play against our back line, today, Maidenhead and few others, if your going to play high back line you need players with pace, which we don't, can understand and except setting up like this against some teams, but not every game, yes certain players had really poor game but set up against a astute manager is not clever. Can imagine DB post match interview blaming poor finishing of chances created, and players letting themselves down, will be surprised if he shares any blame.

He’s not slow at all - he got beaten one vs one all afternoon and for their first goal made no effort at all to even look at where his man was. Nothing to do with pace, just basic defending.CrawleyBee wrote: ↑19 Oct 2024, 16:20WhetstoneBee wrote: ↑19 Oct 2024, 16:15Agreed.
