I think DBs points target for this season is 2 points per game and we are bang on.

If we are not picking up away wins, need to dig in for some ugly draws.

Need to get to bottom of what causes concentration lapse in defence after conceding -it is not a one off

Also Hartigan needs to be subbed in some games too. Often out of puff on 70 mins - he can't be expected to play 90 mins game in game out.

Decent first half and we created some good chances. Maybe if that Kabamba chance in first minute was a bit later into the game he might have scored it?

His fan involvement has been exceptional.

I don’t think it’s an important part of his job whatsoever, if it’s part of his job at all, but this is a strange view to me. Brennan has gone viral with a rant about what poor supporters we are, encompassing just about everything negative you could say about your own fan base: too few of us, we’re not supportive enough, we’re ignorant about football, we’re negative on social media, we don’t support the club financially through merchandise or food etc., we’re always moaning, we harm the players’ confidence… as far as he has any profile beyond Barnet, he’s known as the guy who hates his own club’s supporters!

He also clearly resents the fact he’s at a poorly-supported club, numbers-wise, commenting yet again last night that he wished we had home crowds like our divisional rivals do.

He’s done an incredible job with the team and continues to do so, and I’m delighted he’s still our manager this season because I can’t imagine anyone else would have a better chance of getting us up. I hope he stays with us for many years to come. But if there was one thing I wouldn’t say about Brennan it’s that his fan involvement has been exceptional.

In contrasting ways I would’ve said that Allen (especially 1st spell) and Currie went above and beyond in this regard and really worked to foster better fan involvement. That was all very nice, but it’s not the primary job of the manager - in fact it’s right at the bottom of the list. At the top is managing the team successfully, and I think Brennan’s damn good at that. Just surprised to see this view.

I hear you Tuesds.

On the flip side he arranges players and staff for interviews on podcasts.

His dig over a few fans moaning had a galvanising affect within much of the supporter space. IMO he has terrific goodwill despite some real lows (playoffs and semi's all lost).

But I sense you feel supporters are getting fed up?

Currie was a club legend. Allen I totally agree on.

Honestly, I don’t think supporters are getting fed up. I think supporters want results, and on that front I think Brennan’s been excellent overall.

Yes, some people grumble, just as they do at every club. But for the most part I think they’re pretty happy, as they should be.

I wouldn’t mention supporter involvement as an issue for the manager, but seeing it cited as excellent I wondered what the case for that was.

That’s a fair point about doing podcast interviews to enable the fans to hear from him and his coaching staff, and players. And I guess some did take the rant as a rallying cry, which was backed up by the club with the £5 offer.

I haven't read this thread, in fact today is the first time since Tuesday pre match that I've been able to face this board. I got back to the hotel on Tuesday evening and knew that I needed to turn completely off from Barnet. Apart from waking up at 3am next morning thinking about the York match (!), I've done that.

Solihull and York weren't just 2 defeats, I think I'd cope better with that than the fact that they were such similar defeats. In both we start off fine, Kabamba scores, then the wheels come off, they score twice within a minute, we play ok but the opposition stay in control, we lose.

I will say that we could /should have had a penalty at 0-1 and the free kick that resulted in them effectively winning the match was no way a free kick. Beautifully taken though and no excuse for what happened a minute later.

And York is a lovely city. Three days away only let down by the football.

I have massive respect for those who are going to Exeter. I am just glad that it's far enough away for me to be able to justify not going. At the moment, after these last few days I couldn't face another away match.

Was this the first set of games under the DAZN group?! Might just be the norm and I know the commentators were local but the camera footage was excellent.

Commentary also muted for a moment when they switched to their sister radio station when telling the other results

Interesting to see if anything is different for Saturday's cameras if this is the case
From where we were sitting it looked like there was far too much space on the right hand side ( as we looked) Both my son and I said it was going to go towards the top right hand corner as there looked to be so much room. I'm guessing that's because there was a wall there, but the wall wasn't effective.

Looking at the footage we had a 4 man wall, including Kabamba and Olowu, both tall players, but if you pause the footage you can see all of them still had their feet on the ground the moment the ball was kicked. The ball was over them and on its way into the net before they reached their maximum height. Had they jumped a fraction of a second earlier one of them could have probably got a head to the ball. Maybe, maybe not, but just shows that small margins can make a huge difference !

You may well both be right. Watching from the other end of the pitch, it nevertheless was a powerful, effective shot on target which we'd have thought was a great goal had we scored it.
My issue was with the free kick being given in the first place.

Keeper got a full hand on it, he will be disappointed not to have saved it.

No Chesterfield/Wrexham/Notts this season. All teams will have bad spells. Need to pick up and improve from it but not disastrous. Need to take a deep breath and remember it's 46 games. A week ago we'd won 6 on the bounce - a touch of arrogance to think we should storm every game? If we'd taken first half chances it would have been a different game. We'll be there or thereabouts come May...
