Surely a club that big doesn't need investment?

I'm surprised they didn't go for City instead, bigger stadium, higher league position. Obviously less fans though....

City already have a billionaire as their majority shareholder, who's also a fan. Stephen Lansdown, co-founder of investment company Hargreaves Lansdown, who has a net worth of £1.88bn.
