TK has been unsure on 8 out of 10 signings we've made over the past couple of years but has waved them through anyway. He doesn't mention John Still by name but he may has well have done.
Notably no words of reassurance, praise etc. for Darren Currie, however, and he’s been manager for more than half the time Kleanthous is talking about. As a Darren Currie fan, who thinks we’ve stumbled upon a manager who knows what he’s doing and is only getting better, I wasn’t encouraged by the interview (not that there’s likely to be any encouragement on that score to be found in an interview about the manager being sacked along with every other non-playing member of staff!).
It all just makes it more real.
If only bloody Coventry had bloody tried to score against bloody Morecambe.
Agree he should really have found space to talk about DC in a full 10 minute interview.

Some good questions from Moose there.
I'm a bit more (but not completely) reassured after hearing that. My biggest fear is that this episode heralds the start of the winding down of the club while THL eventually recovers after the virus outbreak and continues with its other operations without BFC. If the long term strategy remains the same to support the football club back into the FL and drawing fans back then periods like these, while difficult are a lot easier to stomach and something we have to stick together and get through.

A nice and easy interview with someone who is his friend, having been around the club for years.
“I’ve been too supportive over the last two years”
No experienced players brought in during our final EFL transfer window. DC not getting what he wanted when he wanted, having to wait months for a striker.
DC hung out to dry on multiple occasions, Q&As and now this. Credit to the man that he shows the passion that he does with 0 encouragement from above.

I know we've had lower than expected crowds this season, we're still a team that has too much dead wood on its books but £500,000? Where has all the money gone to make all the Barnet FC non-playing staff redundant? I'm beyond anger on this and my heart goes out to all the employees.
I have always been supportive towards Tony Kleanthous on this message board but tonight I feel very upset for the staff and this club has been made to look a laughing stock - YET AGAIN!
Absolutely pathetic.
I am the someone who said we may not have received the money yet. You called it ABSOLUTE CRAP. Well I hope you have now listened to our chairman's interview with Ian Abrahams where he announced the payments were scheduled over 4 and a half years and the club have so far only received £50,000. Anybody who knows anything about football club player deals knows this is the norm. Do you really think a Premier League Club would pay £60 million for a player in one go. Sir, don't be so offensive about what others say especially when you don't have a clue what you are talking about.

Sounds like TK has given up on promotion this season even IF the season does re start.

If only Martin Allen cared about what level he was coaching at as well as money.

The club could convert the transfer deal to cash liquidity for a commission if it needed to. Similarly although TK is an “unpaid Chairman” he can give himself a dividend of whatever size he wants. This stuff is painful spin.
The decision to issue redundancy notices before the Government announced its financial support package for business and the national league decides what to do about the season is a really poor way to treat people.
It might be understandable if the company that owned the club had no or few material assets. That isn’t the case here by any stretch of the imagination.
Gary Neville, Chelsea and even Stevenage FC are doing things that bring credit to football, TK isn’t.

Completely agree. The fact he has been so hasty and doesn’t hold out any hope of the season concluding is puzzling.

The much maligned Mike Ashley of sports direct etc, has sent ALL of his employees over 65 home. Their jobs are guaranteed and they will be on full pay until this is all over.
Gary Neville has done the same with his 2 hotels. All staff sent home, jobs guaranteed, full pay. (And he's handed over the 2 empty hotels to the nhs.
Richard Branson (multi billionaire) has sent people home with no pay for 8 weeks and is begging for a tax payer funded bailout (despite criticising flybe getting a bit of breathing space on their tax bill).
When this nightmare is over and the tide recedes, we'll see very clearly the type of people we have in this country.

Richard,
Feelings were running extremely high on Tuesday night following the announcement of all non-playing staff being let go. It was not a personal dig at you otherwise I would have mentioned your name. Ok, I admit I'm not clued up on transfers for football clubs and how they work. For what it's worth, you are a very articulate fan on here who has good football knowledge all round. I wasn't being offensive - just genuinely upset for our employees, who face an uncertain future (as does everyone).
Now is not the time for us to be snapping at each other. We all need support - whether it's to brighten us up, mentally or maybe just to think about previous successful seasons of Barnet FC. No hard feelings mate. Best wishes to you and your family.

Hearts have asked all staff to take 50% wage cut.
We will be the first of many I'm afraid.
Hearts have asked players and staff to take a wage cut of 50% because of the financial impact of the coronavirus.
Owner Ann Budge said previously that the club would lose £1m in revenue from the indefinite suspension of football.
The club says the move is to protect "as many jobs as possible" and avoid redundancies, adding the current situation is unsustainable.
All full-time employees will be affected.

Totally agree. We do have to stick together.
We may all have varying opinions on the suspension of the game and how the current season should be resolved.
Some will be understanding of TK's decisions this week, some not so.
We are all worried that what looked like a promising squad and it's manager for the run-in may could be dismantled unless we start playing games again soon.
However, one things for sure, despite the cutbacks TK has made this week, we are not at the equivalent of 1993 where we were in danger of being totally wound up and expelled from the competition we are in.
Barnet FC is still alive and 4 points off a playoff place with games in hand.
We must all do what we have to do to keep ourselves and our loved ones healthy. If we do that now, better times are around the corner, and our club WILL kick a ball in anger again. When that does happen, we will all be hungry to see it. In the meantime, we have each other on here. We have our senses of humour. Let's put this forum to good use.
