Ticket Prices

Post: # 322173Post BeesKnees »

This isn't meant as a dig but I'm sure it maybe taken that way.

I have decided not to go to most games this season,
For me, my father-in-law and my 21 year old student son to go to games it will now be £58. Regrettably after travel (70 miles each way ) I just cannot justify it.

Losing the terrace and the concession being for under 21s only has pushed the price much, much higher than what I was paying 2 seasons ago.

I understand my situation is probably fairly unique to me and for many it's just a return to the seating price they were paying before. Should they offer a game at a reduced price or open the terrace then I will come.

Can you say what you were paying before?

For me and my daughter i've gone from £20.55 for 2 tickets in Legends (plus £1 a month Hive Membership which i'd recoup from savings on food etc) to £27 - a 31.39% increase.

Seeing the impact on individual fans might stand out. I mean, i'm still partially furloughed, so the difference will make a difference to the games I attend.

As a fellow terrace user, I sympathise. Come to think of it, I suppose I should call myself a former terrace user now. Those who prefer to use the terrace face a 47% price increase* for an inferior experience.

What is particularly galling is that, unless I’ve missed it, the club hasn’t had the courtesy to even mention why they will no longer be opening the Bees Terrace, and are making watching Barnet FC at home an all-seated affair on an ongoing basis for the first time in its history. Is it because the South Stand development is going to commence shortly? If so, is it still the intention to construct standing accommodation in place of the seating in the East Stand? And if so, will that happen at the same time?

Or are we just proceeding on a basis of managed decline, accepting already that we’re too small for our own newly-constructed stadium and cuttings our losses by shrinking it in practice?

Also, no announcement, let alone explanation, of the apparent cancellation of the Hive Membership scheme.

The simple courtesy of a few words of explanation and maybe thanks to past Hive Members/South Terrace users would help to avoid alienating our own supporters in these cases and perhaps make them more inclined to stick with the club even after the debacle of last season.

I have never once used our terrace but I do know of fans who prefer to stand. I could understand the reasoning behind closing the terrace for the 4 matches last season when they were dealing with strict Covid restrictions but not this season. Maybe if enough fans complain they will re-consider, or at very least come up with an explanation.

It will be a cost cutting exercise, no stewards to pay fot in that area and our stand will cover expected crowds. Its very unfortunate for those who used the terrace for the 1st 7 years at THL and again is another consequence of poor decision making leading to relegation!

I think it was around £35 for the three of us, so a 66% price increase.

A better comparison might be to compare the price using my circumstances today, in which case the price has risen from £40 to £58, so a 45% increase.

HAs there been any explanation from the club about why the terrace is closed. I seem to remember something about it was awaiting imminent re-development but that may have just been my imagination.

Hopefully the SA will address the ticket prices with the club. My suggestion would be to introduce a 15% discount on match day tickets to people who sign up for the new SA membership.

Yes. Was in the FAQs that the reason for the closure was for building work commencing this coming season. I hope they follow through with the East Stand redevelopment plans at the same time as it would be a real shame to lose the option to stand at The Hive.

Why would the club give SA members a 15% discount on match days tickets and if they were to do so, surely the ST holders should also be entitled to a 15% discount?

Because if they don’t there will be very few people inside the ground. The price for ST holders is about £100 over par, IMO, and this has a knock on effect to the POTD price. I will attend next season but not as many games as usual.

It would be lovely but it's unlikely to happen as the SA is yet to meet up with TK.

I'd rather the Hive Membership continued as rewarded loyalty and was worth it for those of who make 10-20 games a season.

Maybe the club is super confident of running away with the league and TK has created a Football Club Tycoon app on his computer and will be sitting there watching the ££’s roll in.

In all seriousness the club really needs to look at the cost they’re asking some people to pay to watch a game. I seem to remember a campaign in the Premier league “Twenty’s plenty”. Those who used to pay £15 to stand are now faced with a 48% increase, which is unfair. I’ll be at the Notts County game to see how the new team fares but won’t be doing any night games, and will probably target the Cat A type games going forward.

I’m not going because they’re not even selling tickets in The Hive Bar Stand as they said they would. I don’t believe all this redevelopment rubbish. Where will all the freeloaders and hangers on sit???!!!

Reading the Club's website article about buying tickets for the Notts County game it is not clear whether we can buy tickets on the day.
The article is all about buying online and in advance.
So, can we still rock up on the day and buy a ticket at the ticket office?
