Notts County (Hive) The Match Thread With Kewell Intentions

Post: # 322455Post Bee_Forever »

So.... Saturday sees the Bees kick off their shortened bananarama season at the Hive against promotion hopefuls Notts County.

After last season stunk up the hive worse than me after a dodgy curry we can but hope that this seasons players will be able to bring respectability and credibility back to our football club.

In Harry Kewell we have a manager many County fans feel was harshly treated by their owners and it is a quirk of fate that our previous manager suffered a similar fate at the hands of County. It will be fascinating to see how Harry's project develops after last season when the dog ate our homework.

Having emerged from the era of financial ruin and anyone for Svennis, County will be looking to automatic promotion. My hopes for Barnet are just a mid table finish.

With Barnet signing Sargeant we have solved our major issue in goal although there is a small colonel of concern in private that our centre midfield is lacking energy. In general however this team seems much more ready for the season than the absolute filth who started last season under Al Beadle, pub landlord.

Hopefully we will have signed grand master sesay by Saturday and I would expect a team something like

------------------------Sargeant------------------------

------Turley-----Greenidge---Widdowson---

---Sesay-----------------------------------Doherty--

----------------Taylor-----Brundle-------------------

---Mason-Clarke--------------------Marriott----

--------------------------Bloomfield-------------------

Subs: Callan, Richards-Everton, Payne, Powell, Tsademir

I am missing this one due to a university reunion but will be glued to twitter from afar hoping we can set a good standard for the season.

I see that only 4 blocks are on sale in the Legends stand but maybe only about 700 seats sold so far, including season tickets? I believe someone had a way of counting all the seats sold. Not a great turn out expected so far.

Realistic prediction is county to go 1-0 up before we wrestle a goal back in the second half. Take a point and get on the board. COYB

According to someone on the Notts Co site, they've gone 14 matches against us without a draw.

Someone on Notts Co message board posted yesterday lunchtime that they'd sold 700 tickets too. Hope they don't outnumber us!

Saw the first team section on the new website has been updated with squad numbers on it, don't know if theyre official or just the ones the players have used in preseason but I noticed that EMC and HT have changed from last season

Not as embarrassing as against some in the league, Wood, Stones, Maidenhead...

So have we dropped to this level. Comparing ourselves with Boringwood. Wealdstone. And being glad that we at least get bigger attendances than them. Not a dig in any way. But is this what things have come to.

959 sold by County.
720 West Stand tickets sold

Means at least 1679 seats.

Will probably be over 2000 attendance on the day.

This will be a weird game. The away fans well outnumbering the home fans, must of us having no idea who our players are and how they will play. It's impossible to judge whether we will win, lose or draw but for me as long as we don't embarrass ourselves like last season's first game I'll be happy.

I built a web scraper which pulls the live ticket data for Barnet and other clubs.

Source code is here for anyone who wants to play with it.
