Yes, I quite literally challenged this in the meeting. Was told that this is regulation. Clearly I was lied too… OR the club was misinformedBGr wrote: ↑11 Oct 2022, 09:28 Has anyone in the SA bothered to challenge them on this?
“Can we have a terrace please”
“No”
“Okay”
As with everything else I suspect it comes down to money. “Away end has to have it too” why? The real reason is likely that he can’t claim grant money for that type of stand.

Re: South Stand
It may be a lie, it may be that the club is misinformed, or it may be that we are misinformed. However another example arose only yesterday, when Wrexham were promoting their plans for a new home fans-stand with safe standing, apparently without any accompanying plans to install it in their away areas.
I did wonder if the club’s reticence to even consider rail seating/safe standing was at least in part due to it not being possible with the fairly basic (and relatively cheap?) stands provided by our supplier. However, looking at their website they seem very keen to supply it…

What do you expect them to do? They raised it, they were given an answer and have fed back. They are there to liaise and air our views which they're doing. Sadly they can't force the club to do anything, but at least we can respect people putting the time in for the fans.BGr wrote: ↑11 Oct 2022, 09:28 Has anyone in the SA bothered to challenge them on this?

I think they should ask to see / be made aware where they can read whatever rules would prevent us from installing a home only terrace. Give examples (IE Wrexham as written above) of where other clubs are implementing schemes that mirror exactly what we, the fans want. Drive home that no effort should be spared to get this done - if this means mirroring a section of safe standing in the away stand as well as the home stand then so be it!antbfc wrote: ↑11 Oct 2022, 13:42What do you expect them to do? Maybe before the next meeting we could prepare a proper argument in support of this, try and present a convincing case rather than going in blind.
Re: South Stand
I’ve said this before, but Im going to say it again - a safe standing is a section behind the goal was going to be rubbish. Once the all seater stand is up, people will be able to stand at the back anyway, like the away fans do every single game. Given that safe standing incudes a seat, I’m not even sure it will be cheaper than what the admission will be for the new seated stand anyway.
What we need to do is concentrate on putting an argument together for the planned redevelopment of the East Stand and try and get a decent terrace put in there, running down the side of the pitch. That is where the real prize is.

TK can’t even hire someone to sit in the club shop on match days. Let’s not run before we can walk

Don't you mean stand before we can sit?!

Re: South Stand
I believe we answered this when I was on the BFCSA. The main building is going to eventually go as it was inherited and poorly designed as part of a stadium. I believe some of the offices will go into the new south stand. TK looked into converting the east side into a terrace but bearing in mind the building’s days are numbered, it would’ve been a massive waste of money. I think it was something like £800k to convert. Personally I’d rather that money was invested into the team

Delighted to see via email that my suggestion has been forwarded to the club! Re: South Stand
That sounds sensible. Hopefully the Club Shop could then be moved back to either it’s original site or also put in the South Stand.Mem Beespod wrote: ↑13 Oct 2022, 09:31I believe we answered this when I was on the BFCSA. It is currently in the wrong place.

Re: South Stand
£800k to convert? How much does it cost to remove the seats and put new barriers up + painted yellow lines. Surely not £800k.

My suggestion is that when that building goes, which it will do in the future, we try and push for a decent terrace to be built there - not that we try for a terrace right now.
This seems a better strategy than playing our cards pursuing safe standing in the south stand - which is always going to be rubbish (behind the goal) and unnecessary (the stand will be so empty for years to come you will be able to stand there anyway).
I'd imagine not having any standing in the south stand would strengthen the argument for an alternative (i.e terrace) provision to be made running alongside the sideline - which is likely to be more full of standing people than the safe standing provision behind the goal for the simple reason that people prefer being on the sidelines, and that those who wish to sit on the sidelines have the Legends stand option.

Re: South Stand
if we don`t get a good winning team soon that challenges and gets promotions then there will be no point in expanding or upgrading the stands or main building

Totally agree with this.Anthony wrote: ↑12 Oct 2022, 19:01 I’ve said this before, but Im going to say it again - a safe standing is a section behind the goal was going to be rubbish.
