Dartford (away) Dean Brennan and his Merrymen Thread

Post: # 336223Post Bee_Forever »

So... today we head down to Kent to take on Dartford in soaring temperatures in our latest PSF.

The Merrymen sung about feeling hot and it certainly will be a tough one for our players and a real test of their fitness. Late Northern have already given up on running trains today and I would imagine many fans will struggle to get there.

The darts will be painting a bullseye on Barnet and with them performing well in Conference South it's Gerwen to be a tough one. Here's hoping that Barnet don't get hot cross and bothered and that the Price is Wright for us to pick up the win.

In terms of team lineup I would suggest the following:-

-----------------------------Walker------------------------------

--------Wynter----Collinge----Diarra-----Beard------

-----------Hall---Dolan---De Havilland--------

----------Shields-------Kabamba----Mason-Clark----

Subs: Callan, Thomas, Okimo, Phillips, Pritchard, Smith, Loza, Walsh, Granville, Vasilou, The Rialist family

I am planning on getting the lizzie line down to Abbey wood and luxuriating in the air con.

Any question of this being called off because of the heat?

It's irresponsible allowing the match to go ahead tonight when tomorrow is an option with much more reasonable conditions.

Temperature in Dartford expected to be around 31deg at kick off dropping to around 27deg at full time.
As its a friendly it should be easy to have several drinks breaks during the game.
I assume someone has done a risk assessment for the game tonight.

Perhaps they could convert it to a walking football game!

Completely agree with Adher36.
BBC Weather gives higher temperatures than those stated above, plus higher still " feels like" temperatures.
And it's not even just about the temperature at 7.30pm, fans, players, officials etc have to travel there in the first place.
Dartford's ground is like a bowl, I imagine it will retain heat more than many others might.
The match will have to be played at reduced pace, what are either manager going to learn about their players tonight?
Ridiculous not to postpone for 24 hours.

Wild fires are now going off all over London including near Dartford where buildings are catching alight. I don't see how this game can go ahead.

That fire is on the Essex side of the Thames so no way will it affect Dartford, but I do agree it's mad not to postpone the game until tomorrow when it'll be easier to travel to and from the grounedi

:ohlord: Thought for a minute it was the return of John Doolan…. What a day that would be.

Large fires in Dagenham now. Their stadium is being used as an emergency refuge centre.
