Re: Halifax (Hive) The Match Thread Touching Cloth
Lovely start to the season, we were in complete control for most of the game. We were a bit slow at the start of the second half but soon got back in control. Once the (moronic) red card happened the game was done.
I don’t think we’ll be bullied as much as last season but I think we’ll come up against much sterner tests. Regardless of Kambamba’s quality, he will not play 90 minutes of every game in that type of role, we must do something about that.

Other games in national league, Dorking drew 2-2 with Chesterfield. With Chesterfield having two players sent off, Borehamwood best Southend 0-1 even thou they had two players sent off.
Dagenham drew 2-2 with Gateshead. Wrexham won 2-1 against Eastleigh after being 1 down.

First time for years I felt like I was at a proper football game. All the Barnet players put a shift in and that goal will do wonders for Kabamba’s confidence. Thought Halifax were very poor though.
Re: Halifax (Hive) The Match Thread Touching Cloth
Halifax were really bad so not getting carried away however defensively we defended as a unit and looked in sync, going forward I'm not convinced that kabamba is the man for 20 goals a season but soooo much better..... If we lose EMC then Invest the money into a poacher plz. Great start shields and Gorman are so comfortable on the ball not scared of it which is refreshing we won't trouble Wrexham but neither will we go on a bad run like previous years (famous last words) for now we are a mid table national League side let's see what DB can do but TK seems on board based on his celebrations today let's enjoy the ride COYB.

Great victory, 2 good goals, 2 well observed mins of applause, 0 scoreboards and good subs brought on that all had an impact.
Collinge impressed me.

How refreshing to see a team with so much energy and bite. Halifax were soooo bad.
Kabamba IMO played well, scored a brilliant goal with so much time to think I assumed he would pass it off to RDH. Won plenty of flick ons and good link play.
Halifax didn't ask any questions of note, we dealt with what they offered with ease.
Sean Shields is a real handful.
Can only beat what's in front but great to get off with a win.

I rather enjoyed that.
Sheilds MOM but Diarra was immense. And that ball by Hall for the second was delightful

Kabamba 20+ goals incoming
Re: Halifax (Hive) The Match Thread Touching Cloth
Halifax presumably expected the match to be easier for them because they seemed shell shocked for the first 20-25 minutes. They then started to come into the game but Walker didn't have a single save of note to make all match.
Ultimately were they that bad or was it that we didn't give them an inch and didn't let them settle?
Halifax's 2nd yellow card must the most ridiculous and unnecessary sending off I can recall ever seeing. We'd be livid if a Barnet player had done that.
Pleased for Kabamba with his goal. Hopefully the first of many for us.
If we can play with that degree of application, determination and team spirit all season then sure, we won't win every match - but we'll at least be able to forgive the defeats.
And how good to hear Twist and Shout!!

Lots of positives, though definite room for improvement. Halifax had a lot of the ball at times but weren’t able to do anything with it and Walker had one of the most comfortable afternoons he’ll have all season. We didn’t look like a team that had 9 out of 11 players playing their first league game for us, which is good, and there was a lot more energy and pace than last season. That said, the midfield could do with an out-and-out ball-winner (Phillips? Woods?). Pritchard and Gorman work very hard and press well, but both are technical players and I’m not sure that winning second balls and breaking up attacks is what either of them is about - they’re more playmakers.
We definitely need at least one more striker, as everyone knows. For me Kabamaba is most effective when playing on the shoulder of the last man - he isn’t that effective as a targetman. If we play to his strengths then he will score goals but his strength is not playing with his back to goal.
Lastly, Danny Collinge has the potential to be a very good player indeed - thought both he and Okimo were faultless today.

I assume it wasn’t boos when Diarra was on the ball? Agreed he was superb.
