Southen (Hive) The Rest in Peace Your Majesty Match Thread

Post: # 338865Post Bee_Forever »

So..... Saturday sees the bees returning to the home of crepe football as we take on Darren Currie's Southend United in the Bananarama League.

After a poor showing at Aldershot the bees will be keen to rebound against the Shrimpers. Southend have also struggled recently losing two of their last three games and they will be keen to get their promotion push back on track against Brennan's misfiring bees.

It is hard to put a finger on what went wrong last week, but the absence of Collinge and De Havilland and the ineffectiveness of Kabamba cannot have helped. I home that Ravon has not got spooked by his error last week as I think we will need his pace at the back on Saturday against the shrimpers. Giving the ball away at that stage was naive and he will be keen to show he was not prawn yesterday if given another chance. The southend game comes amid a cocktail of busy fixtures and with Barnet again picking up injuries just having a fit and firing starting XI is going to be a challenge for Deano.

I remain somewhat perturbed that we have not managed to find a tigerish forward to push Nicke for his place but I am sure Deano is doing everything he can to findus one.

I would go.

Subs: Callan, Diarra, Smith, Kanu, Thomas

I am planning to arrive at 1pm so I have some chance of getting an away shirt and a beer at half time.

Whats the protocol if 'you know what' happens? Hoping this game doesn't get cancelled but if it does then probably so does Dorking and Solihull.

I wondered that. I can see this weekend's fixtures being postponed but IMO don't think it should go beyond that.

Minutes silence and the game should be played.

Game will be postponed. And rightly so. Rest in Peace your majesty. She has been our monarch for 70 years and that duty, sacrifice leadership and matriachy deserves more than a minutes silence.

A guiding light in our country has gone out.

God save the king.

Not sure if game will be cancelled, content if thought appropriate, otherwise a silence of a number of minutes. RIP you majesty. God save the King.

The queen attended many sporting events through her life and her British ‘get on with it’ attitude made her loved by many. Reactionary decisions to cancel events such as day two of the test match, actually doesn’t feel very appropriate for me.

I agree with 11bee717, a minutes silence and the game should go ahead.

Ultimately I don't imagine it'll be our decision, i imagine the NL / EFL/ PL will decide one way or the other.

Test match, all horse racing and PGA golf all off tomorrow.

It's not typical to cancel games in this situation. For the funeral yes, but not in the aftermath of a death.

Guess death of the Queen probably trumps any previous situation....
