Woking (Away) The Cooler Match Thread
So..... Saturday sees the Bees head to Woking to take on the in form Cardinals in what starts a rough run of Bananarama fixtures.
After the Wurzels game was frozen off, the Bees will be hoping the Laithwaite pitch is playable and remains so. Last year at Woking was one of the coldest I have been as was to cold to even celebrate the winner properly. Saturday promises to be just as chilly if not more so so warm clothes advised.
In Casinos a "cooler" is someone who knocks a card player off their winning streak and the hope is that we can come up trumps against the cards. Brennan is now numero uno and he will be keen to ensure we keen near the top of the deck.
In terms of team lineup Woking are hoof merchants so going big at the back may help

A memorably cold fixture there last season. I can only recall one that was colder. It was a Herts Senior Cup tie a few years back at either Cheshunt or Broxbourne which I think we lost. The match became irrelevant as I struggled to ward off hyperthermia. Even my Eskimo companion Nanook fainted.

A heads up for you all
Over the weekend of Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 January, heavy rain caused part of a railway embankment to collapse between Hook and Winchfield stations on the South West Main Line, which connects London Waterloo with Basingstoke.
Only two trains per hour will run between London Waterloo and Portsmouth Harbour via Guildford on Saturday

I sent an email to Southwestern railways asking about Woking trains on Saturday. They said they'd let me know within 4 weeks!

Yes I remember a number of Herts senior cup games seemed to be saved for really cold nights.Chainsaw wrote: ↑18 Jan 2023, 19:36 A memorably cold fixture there last season. Curse of Woking!!
On the 3 occasions I have bought tickets - still haven't made it!!! Twice due to sudden family illness once due to train logistics/cancellations. I hope to finally make it to hopefully consolidate playoff position.
That said the 4-4 draw in FA Cup on my 21st birthday was rather special!

Re: Woking (Away) The Cooler Match Thread
London to Woking trains are impacted by the landslide - basically everything that goes down the Southampton mainline is cancelled which means there are a LOT less services to Woking, but still two fast trains per hour going down the Pompey branch, plus suburban services. Be warned however, other "non impacted" services have been cancelled this week becasue of the "landslide" - I think the problem is that staff can't get to the right location.
My advice don't leave travelling to the last minute. Otherwise it should be fine. Oh and don't rely on trainline.com for train times. When I travelled on Tuesday all the Southampton mainline trains were still scheduled and bookable for this week, even though there was no chance of operating the timetable.
