Woking (Away) The Cooler Match Thread
Re: Woking (Away) The Cooler Match Thread
I don't think there is any benefit to Woking in not playing the game. Temperatures overnight tomorrow are forecast to be about the same as today, so the state of the pitch at 3pm would likely have been very similar to tomorrow at 3pm.
While I'm 30miles from Woking, the kids football pitch on the village green opposite me still had frozen patches at 4pm despite having been in the sun all today. The kids pitches doesn't have any stands to block out the sun.
I was expecting a call off tomorrow, I'm actually happy that it's been called off before I started travelling. I am disappointed it isn't being played though.

I do agree with a few posts already on hear, seems a bit early to call game off especially as temp is not supposed to be going that low tonight and from 9am till at least 2pm it is meant to be sunny and 5-6 degrees. It's the sun being forecasted that makes it being called of the day before seen rather over eager. As we are quite local they could of given it till 10-11 am.But yet another game that is going to have to be pushed in with already congestive fixture list.
Re: Woking (Away) The Cooler Match Thread
I was pretty certain it'd be off. There's 4-5 days hard frost in the ground now and it'll take more than 3 or 4 hours of +4 or so temps to completely thaw out. Eastleigh could be doubtful too - it's not forecast to be much above +2 there on Mon or Tue.

The warmer weather keeps being pushed back. Eastleigh now seems a little doubtful before what looks like a bigger freeze on the way for the Chesterfield game.pokal02 wrote:I was pretty certain it'd be off. Loving the positivity
Re: Woking (Away) The Cooler Match Thread
Nobody wants the match to be off. Woking certainly wouldn't have been seeking an early postponement if there had been any hope of a thaw. We're not the only one, there are already 11 matches off in L1 down to NLN/S. More will doubtless follow tomorrow.
Better that matches are postponed than players slip and sustain serious injury.

Don't think they want you to attend this fixture my friend, this is now your fourth time that you have failed to watch this game.hoofer2 wrote: ↑20 Jan 2023, 09:43 Curse of Woking!!
On the 3 occasions I have bought tickets - still haven't made it!!! Twice due to sudden family illness once due to train logistics/cancellations. I hope to finally make it to hopefully consolidate playoff position.
That said the 4-4 draw in FA Cup on my 21st birthday was rather special!

The meterologists were out in force on Twitter along with qualified groundsman. My favourite highlight a photo of the pitch tweeted suggesting it was playable. I don't believe you can do a pitch inspection from your sofa.
Hopefully we play Woking when they hit rubbish form

Quite a few games off, as disappointing as it is seems the right decision. Fingers crossed for Tuesday.

10 out of today's 12 NL matches have been postponed. At least it's the same for almost everybody.

And the two games that are being played are on artificial pitches.
Ive never quite understood why EFL clubs are not allowed artificial pitches. I prefer watching football on grass pitches but you can understand why some clubs install artificial pitches.

Borehamwood postponed their match v Torquay following a 1.45pm pitch inspection. They were due to open the turnstiles at 1.30pm but delayed to 2pm pending the outcome.
Can just imagine how Torquay felt!

I was going to that match. Plenty of unhappy Torquay fans in town. Dashed across town with a few of them to watch Bromley Vs Aldershot.becbee wrote:Borehamwood postponed their match v Torquay following a 1.45pm pitch inspection. Safe to say Shots fans dislike Reynolds almost as much as we do.
