Re: Chesterfield (Hive) The Arsene Cook Match Thread
My concern before the game was given we gone 2 weeks without a match we might have been a bit rusty (like Plymouth game in trophy ) but we looked really sharp today straight from kick off.
Good end to end game.
First 30mins or so walker had about 6 or 7 saves to make but all easy ones for keeper like him.
Every player had good game but Gorman Collinge stood out for me and obviously Kabamba.

On clubs Twitter account you could vote for your man of the match, not much of a surprise as to who that was, Kabamba with just over 90%, but what was surprising even thou I thought he had very good game second was Woods with 4.8%, followed by Gorman. 2.6%

Their forum was typical entitled "we shouldn't lose to the likes of this or Woking" , big club mentality of we shouldn't be here, well you are and you should've got used to it by now.

Firstly this team is enjoyable to watch - win, lose or draw. The cameradie and commitment on the pitch is infectious and the reason I took up the half season ticket.
The fitness levels and running across the team are impressive and play for full 90 mins almost every game.
Playing Chesterfield was always going to be a marker as to whether we are competing for position 5 to 7 or 3 to 5. It's time to look up.
My man of the match was Ryan Dehavilland. He really drove the ball forward and kept it high up the pitch as much as possible. Did some important tackles and put in a lot of yards.
I take for granted the number of important saves Walker does match on match, and Chesterfield could have been a goal or two up.
Kabamba was on point today and deserved his first Bees hattrick.
Collinge and Okimo tackle so cleanly and good to have options with Beard and Revan.
Kanu gets on the ball and a threat, and grafts in defensive duties but needs to sometimes to release ball to free player rather than try and do it all himself.
Woods was a passenger for most of the game yet ended up with 2 assists!! Didn't seem to even touch the ball until 30mins in the first half. I guess he offers something a little different but not on level as team mates.
The player I would have liked to come off bench the way we were set up was Shields. I guess he'll be on his way in the Summer which is a shame
A fantastic performance, and look forwards to next game...

8 games unbeaten in the league, 6 of those wins.
Onto Eastleigh, let’s keep this going Bees

That was a really good high quality game. And we won it. This team is for real and it wouldn't shock me if we see Chesterfield again in the play-offs.
Sure we gave up some chances and had they gone in it could have been a different game, but apart from maybe Wrexham and Notts County no one is going to play Chesterfield and just steamroll them. We had plenty of chances ourselves besides the 3 goals.
Kabamba is playing on a John Akinde level right now. He's not as physically dominant as Big John was but he links with the midfield more and wins more headers. If he can keep it up for 3 seasons like Akinde did, happy days. He's clearly loving life at the moment and why not.
Lots of good performances today, thought Gorman showed steel but also played some lovely passes. Woods did his job which was to disrupt them playing out from the back and that led to a couple of assists too.
Tough physical run coming up but as they showed today this team can battle through it and there is depth in the squad that there hasn't been for a long time.
This is shaping up to be a thrilling few months.

That first half was a superb watch. Both sides were playing skillful, attacking football and without resorting to diving/gamesmanship. Credit to both teams, that was refreshing for this division.
We slightly edged the 1st half I thought. The way we dispossess their best players and then within one pass can be fully on the attack shows how dangerous we are to play against.
2nd half we weathered the storm, had a bit of luck and took our chances on the counter attack. That Woods assist was excellent. Idris was outstanding.
One thing DB does not let his sides do is sit back and defend a 1-0 lead. 9/10 it works.
On to Eastleigh!

Yes! Love the way the 3-0 echoes that match.
Re: Chesterfield (Hive) The Arsene Cook Match Thread
Liked DB post match interview, honest, well explained and like how he changes things when teams cause us issues in certain areas, such as why he played Sam Woods, to mark Banks who didn't start but came on at start of second half, in which woods took the ball of Banks and set up our goal, as DB said it's important about getting players recovery time, he said Gorman leg muscles were cramping up, so so important to get the recovery right before Eastleigh game, as if we were to loose all the hard work the players put in today to get the three points will be wiped out, but looking forward to Eastleigh game and hope we get good following. Was actually a masterstroke by DB to play Woods so far up to disrupt their slow build up from the back and turn over possession - as happened for the second goal.

Really enjoyed the game today, a superb all round team performance and the best game I’ve seen at the Hive for many years.
Obviously Nicke rightly takes all the plaudits but I thought Kanu had an excellent game, he made their players look like mugs! The guy has immense skill.
