John Motson
Our biggest celebrity fan has passed away, aged 77. RIP John.
Re: John Motson
Sad news. Strangely I was only thinking about him yesterday, wondering if he ever visits the Hive. RIP.

RIP Motty. Would get a Barnet reference in whenever it was relevant (and sometimes not!). Grown up listening to him and will be sadly missed.
Re: John Motson
Very sad news. Rarely did a game go by without him mentioning us in commentary. RIP
Re: John Motson
He did. I think there were a few occasions Martin Allen would bring him in to the changing room pre game to talk to the players.ETBee wrote:Sad news. Strangely I was only thinking about him yesterday, wondering if he ever visits the Hive. RIP.
RIP Motty.
Re: John Motson
I always wanted to meet him. Great commentator and as said above, a legendary Barnet fan too who always used to mention us where possible. Of course the Ronnie Radford commentary is probably his most iconic moment... but what a voice he had. RIP
Re: John Motson
RIP, John. A lovely man, I spoke to him on a few occasions when he visited Underhill to support Barnet. His coat he wore made him so recognised, great commenter will be sadly missed.
Surprised there is nothing on clubs web site or on there Twitter account.

Re: John Motson
For a time I wanted to be a football commentator just like Motty… I still wouldn’t mind a crack at it!
He was simply the best. A legend in every sense of the word and a Barnet boy to boot.
His commentary will be enshrined in football history forever.
RIP Motty

Re: John Motson
Very sad news indeed. I remember he was sitting next to us in the Hive Stand with Dino Maamria a few years ago. I thought he looked familiar and it only dawned on me after who he was. RIP
Re: John Motson
Awful news. Thought he would be around for ever and ever.
Sure there will be a minutes applause/silence on Saturday at every match, let alone ours.
