I can only assume we agreed to this so our team will stay up North after the Gateshead game? If not Tuesday surely preferable as still a 3 day gap to Good Friday?!

Big advantage to York who will have had the weekend off!

I decided against going to Gateshead for various reasons, one of which being the rail strike. Now the journey seems far more appealing with a break on the way back at York. But what really annoys me is that whilst the RMT members have overwhelmingly voted to accept the pay offer, the rail strikes on 30th March and 1st April haven't been called off. Which means what could have been a straightforward double header by rail is still not feasible.

Quite sensible I guess, players will have Tuesday off and two days prep before Bromley, possibly that night we will see some rotation of the squad.

Depends on the Saturday result I think as to whether York have the advantage or not.

Today’s news on RMT members accepting the pay offer relates to Network Rail maintenance staff, not those who work for the Train Operating Companies. Hopefully today’s news is a precursor to a deal being reached for the TOC workers too, and in turn cancellation of the strikes including on April 1st.

I presume the club will travel to Gateshead on the Friday as it is paid for out of Trophy money, but can't see Team staying Sat/Sun night ready for York on Monday, so a lot of travelling close together for the players again.

Though we're not renowned for blowing the budget on hotel stays, I think we will do two nights here - it just doesn't make any sense as a date otherwise. As you say, the trophy money covers the travel + first night in a hotel, and we'd probably have stayed overnight for York anyway, so not really any extra outlay.

Agreed.
There's no way that the players would be expected to get home from a long trip to Gateshead in the early hours of Sunday morning then be back for another long coach journey on Monday morning. If we weren't going to be staying up north then the match would have been on the Tuesday.

Presumably NL refused to allow game on 25/4 for fear of further postponements so week before Easter became only free date thanks to stupid C game this week! saving 400+ miles of travelling by staying over will hopefully refresh the players and hopefully by then the bulk of our injuries will be back to allow rotation of the starting line up on monday without weakening too team too much.

Though I guess players will travel back after game Monday and have the Tuesday off and maybe the Wednesday.

I'm sure they don't but equally I imagine a 9.5-10 hour round trip followed by a 7.5 -8 hour drive a day or so later presumably doesn't appeal either. I guess the players were consulted first and decided that it was the lesser of the two evils.

Just the Tuesday I would imagine, we play again Friday, 2 days of prep for that.
