Right club - wrong player! Imminent announcement due.
So which one we apparently signing, blackwell or Davies? Cheers
From Braintree’s write-up of their game on Saturday: “With Will Davies set to leave the club in search of full-time football…”

Is that an official club article? Typo in the title doesn't look great
That's their official website yeah.

31 goals for Leiston last season, seems to be making the step up to us very quickly having not yet proven himself in the NL South though

This looks like a decent signing to me – still quite young at 24, probably willing to be backup to Kabamba having come from a lower division, and had an excellent scoring record (65 in 158) for Leiston. Two goals in eight for Braintree this term, so not terrible if he's more of a target man figure.

I've heard that he was initially a midfielder at Leiston before he got moved up front and everything clicked

Would imagine we or anyone looking at him will see how he gets on at higher level with Braintree. As if we are looking at what he has achieved at Leiston the step up from there league to National league is to big, if he was a young lad of 17-18 then that's different,

It sounds like he’s out of the door already. Yes it’s a big gap, but that doesn’t in itself mean he can’t make the step up; Marvin Armstrong had played most of his football at step 3, (if I recall correctly) and he’s doing all right.

You’d of thought he wouldn’t of left without something lined up but it seems he’s still without a club.

Strange - I assume reports that we’d signed him were wide of the mark given nothing has been announced?

Suggests an inflated sense of his own ability / worth?

Perhaps he's got an EFL club lined up, but can't sign for them yet due to the transfer window. He could've missed the August deadline, but is training with his new club to get up to speed for January. A bit like the situation Barnet had with Fuad Sule.

Interesting to note that in his post-match interview at the weekend Brennan lamented the fact that we've not had a single goal scored by a substitute.

It’s great that he wants subs to come on and make an impact in attack. I hope his hand is strengthened in that effort with the signing of a striker.

With a fully fit squad, on Tuesday our bench featured a goalkeeper, a defender and three midfielders. If we want players to come on and score goals, let’s have a goalscorer or two on the bench!

I'd imagine we're tracking a few strikers but are waiting for their wage demands to be lowered. As time goes by those without clubs or a place in a current squad will become available. Unfortunately it's a waiting game but as long as we're in touch with Chesterfield we'll be OK.

And don't forget, it works both ways. Better players without a club will probably favour a team riding high in the table. At the same time, DB will only sign players who have the right attitude and fit in, which is absolutely right. I'd rather we bide our time and get the right player, as opposed to signing a forward just for the sake of signing a forward.
Barnet showing all the flair of Rupert-the-Bears trousers, but lots more style!

Put it this way. I’d much rather we take out time, than spend £30k on someone like Alfie Pavey

I’d rather we sign someone before we have to panic and end up spending £30k on someone like Alfie Pavey or whoever happens to be available at the time that Kabamaba gets injured or suspended, for example.

Oh yes indeed, I totally agree with that. We heard that we would sign a striker when EFL transfer window closed, like you would hate to see Nicki pick up a injury then we just put our hand in a bag and see whose name comes out, like Moyo or a Alfie Pavey
