London Bees
Don't normally check results of London Bees, but was curious of how they had got on or how they were getting on and it's not looking good.
Results.
17-09-23= Ipswich 5-0 Bees
10-09-23 = Bees 1-6 Billericay
06-09-23 = Bees 0-3 MK Done
Oh dear not looking to bright for the ladies.

It’s catching!
Women’s FA Cup, Steyning Town Community 0 6 London Bees.
Four different scorers and the fourth consecutive clean sheet.

What a really poor reason for not backing the ladies team!

Re: London Bees
Letchbee94 does have a point here.
The badge is truly awful, like something from the 90s clipart with some famous London landmarks, and the name should be simply Barnet Ladies/Women FC. A graphic designer friend of mine said it was one of worst things he's seen professionally.
I get why TK would have done this, to broaden the appeal across London but he's ended up appealing to no one since the Prem teams all now have established and well supported women teams and the rebrand has effectively disassociated the women's team from the men's club and identity on purpose.

Spot on, I can understand the intention behind the name change, but all it's done is alienate the only people who are likely to care about the team - Barnet fans. I would hope that we'll reverse this if we go back to Barnet. Even from a planning point of view, you would imagine a women's team carrying the Barnet name will be received positively by Barnet Council.EastBarnetFan wrote: ↑14 Oct 2024, 12:16 Letchbee94 does have a point here.

Re: London Bees
Has anyone actually put this point to TK before? Do the BFCSA cover London bees too? Seems like something that could be raised in discussion

Re: London Bees
Could never understand why the name was changed, isn’t there another team called London . . . ? Just confuses any random supporter wanting to support a ladies team. They are Barnet Ladies F.C. simple as that.
Re: London Bees
It's the only women's team that I'm aware of that has no reference to the men's club it's attached to, in their name but I don't follow women's football, the Durham side I don't think is attached to Durham City because the men's side has been on a downward spiral for many years.

This is a great point, and could support the club's stadium application.thebeekeeper wrote: ↑14 Oct 2024, 12:46Spot on, I can understand the intention behind the name change, but all it's done is alienate the only people who are likely to care about the team - Barnet fans. Purely from a PR perspective this would look great on Barnet Council to support the growth and development of the women's game.
I also do love how the Gherkin tower is in the badge even though these days it's completely hidden by new buildings and basically isn't the attraction it once was when first opened.

London City Lionesses are currently second in the Women’s Championship.pgbee wrote: ↑14 Oct 2024, 16:07 It's the only women's team that I'm aware of that has no reference to the men's club it's attached to, in their name but I don't follow women's football, the Durham side I don't think is attached to Durham City because the men's side has been on a downward spiral for many years.

I guess London City Lionesses are a breakaway club from Millwall...pgbee wrote: ↑14 Oct 2024, 16:07 It's the only women's team that I'm aware of that has no reference to the men's club it's attached to, in their name but I don't follow women's football, the Durham side I don't think is attached to Durham City because the men's side has been on a downward spiral for many years.
Re: London Bees
I can see why TK rebranded District Line FC to London Bees. No real deep affiliation with Barnet and spent a lot of past closer to Harrow than Barnet
Re: London Bees
They are and being independent means they don't play second fiddle to a men's team. They are well funded by American owners.hoofer2 wrote: ↑14 Oct 2024, 17:12I guess London City Lionesses are a breakaway club from Millwall...pgbee wrote: ↑14 Oct 2024, 16:07 It's the only women's team that I'm aware of that has no reference to the men's club it's attached to, in their name but I don't follow women's football, the Durham side I don't think is attached to Durham City because the men's side has been on a downward spiral for many years.
