Re: 2nd round draw
As has been said, not the most exciting draw. However, matches against Newport always stir up happy memories for me.
The 6-1 victory in 1971 fired my passion for Barnet. I remember standing on the West Bank and being thrilled as the goals flew in. What a great team we had then with the likes of Ricky George, Paddy Powell and Les Eason prolific in attack. Just a shame we could not reproduce our best form the following season against Stafford Rangers in the FA Trophy final at Wembley.

The star player against Newport was, in fact, a young red-headed reserve called Roly Cray. All the Sunday papers raved about him, although he never really went on to make any impact at Barnet. I saw him a couple of seasons later playing for Cheshunt.Whetstone72 wrote: ↑06 Nov 2023, 15:06 As has been said, not the most exciting draw. Do the club know we have Newport away? Still not been mentioned on the main site.

Not a surprised.letchbee94 wrote:Do the club know we have Newport away? Still not been mentioned on the main site.
I genuinely cannot believe they’ve not done anything advertising wise for the Gateshead (and Oldham games) - international weekend covering both games. SA said they were in talks but tbh anything announced now is too late to have a decent impact as we saw with the £5 season ticket deal.

Interesting fact, Newport at home to Neath at 2.30 on Saturday 2nd! No idea if football club can boot them off or not!

Well spotted, they moved there in 2021!All 3 played at Rodney parade prior to that! The ground they use now is county's old ground which used to be called spytty park!
Re: 2nd round draw
It is a shame. Now is the time whilst doing well to try get people hooked. Not sure if the club assume attendances will just be higher when doing well? It's true but still a good chance to attract new fans.PBBee wrote: ↑07 Nov 2023, 07:04Not a surprised.letchbee94 wrote:Do the club know we have Newport away? Re: 2nd round draw
I remember way back in a up campaign, we were on course to play Newport (Isle of Wight) away until they got knocked out.
Would have taken the hovercraft from Southsea front as was living in Portsmouth at the time

Not on TV. One of few non-league teams definitely not through who aren't on TV. https://www.thefa.com/news/2023/nov/10/ ... broadcasts

Re: 2nd round draw
The fact that Wrexham are on ITV makes me wonder if this could now be selected by S4C, with Newport being the only other Welsh team in the competition. I believe they have made their selection later than the regular TV picks in the past, so I'd await official confirmation of the date before booking any trains etc.wearebees wrote: ↑11 Nov 2023, 12:27 Not on TV. This is a very good shout. Wrexham's game in the last round on S4C was switched to Saturday 7:45 though instead of the Sunday.thebeekeeper wrote:The fact that Wrexham are on ITV makes me wonder if this could now be selected by S4C, with Newport being the only other Welsh team in the competition.
