Re the behaviour issue. Fortunately, the behaviour on the coach on the way back was better, which is good to hear. Some supporters seem to think it's fine to smoke, drink vape on the coach or leave the toilet in a mess. I really can't understand that mentality. Around 6 supporters were escorted out, I believe. No excuse for that kind of behaviour.
Back to the game. Nearly a full strength side today and it showed, first half. Even at 4 nil down, we kept trying. Great effort, looking forward to a Wembley play off win!

Hooper didn’t need to feature so early though did he? And I didn’t say Gorman should have started, but he should have come on for someone like Brunt who was once again totally ineffectual.Patel89 wrote:Career worst performances?BeesKnees99 wrote: ↑11 Nov 2023, 21:11Exactly what about this is baffling? To call that a Jekyll and Hyde performance would be… an understatement. Play like that first half all game and we will comfortably beat any side.
Second half? There are no words. I knew they are a ‘second half team’ but my God they were absolutely there for the taking. The goals we conceded were criminal. Career-worst performances from some of our players second half.
Brennan clearly panicked. Revan off for Hooper? Bizarre. Gorman was clearly needed to help regain control of the midfield. They cut through us like a hot knife through butter. Looked like we only had about 8 men on the pitch in the end.
Side note - surely now the Brunt love-in has to stop. Always goes missing when the tough gets going. Did nothing once again today. Yes nobody covered themselves in glory but he seems immune from criticism on here.
Serious lessons need to be learned for the reverse fixture or we’ll get our pants pulled down on TV. Fortunately that fixture won’t have much riding on it anymore.
Feel for our travelling supporters. You deserved so much better than that.
Next up, a strong Gateshead side who just beat Dorking 6-0. Can’t bloody wait.

Brennan panicked with revan for hooper - hooper was always gonna feature
Gorman should have started instead of who?
Remember chesterfield have a team superior to ours it's okay to lose against better teams we are not the finished article we've had a brilliant start to the season incredible points return long way to go let's keep the positivity
Also I hate this implication that some posters are completely negative and horrible while others are positive and lovely. It’s not that black and white.
I’ve been unequivocal in my praise for the first half. I’ve commended our character and resilience in so many games this season.
DB himself has driven high standards. We didn’t reach anywhere near those those standards second half and I don’t think it’s unreasonable or ‘baffling’ to point that out.

Spodo is a troll who who probably works for the club, I tend to take no notice.#Beebot wrote:This is your take? Naive at best to assume there is only one poster not happy with todaySpodothebee wrote:Bet you’ve never seen beesknees99 and Roy57 in the same room

Correct decision for me, stead was all over the place and we needed someone to hold it up. We just didn’t use him effectivelyrudebwoyben wrote: ↑11 Nov 2023, 21:19 Brennan didn’t need to put Hooper on when he did. Another 15 or so minutes into the second half would have been fine. Just seemed a very emotion-driven decision.
Re: Chesterfield (A) The Chester Way I'm Fielding Match Thread
That would have made more sense, unfortunately Hooper came on for our right back Revan and Stead went off ten minutes later when we were three nil down
Re: Chesterfield (A) The Chester Way I'm Fielding Match Thread
Gorman for Brunt seemed to be the obvious substitution for me, do we assume Gormo not fit enough?
Re: Chesterfield (A) The Chester Way I'm Fielding Match Thread
Surely has to be out of favour which is a real shame I think. Wasn’t his biggest fan last season but thought he started excellently this campaign. Him and Hartigan together I thought worked really really well but seems Dean’s gone off the idea of that.

Sad to read this Ben.
The coach journeys always were a safe haven for getting to and from games with a nice stop off
The BFCSA have worked so hard to make this happen and it appears they and fellow passengers were let down.

Some of the songs they sang were definitely not to my taste and they seem wilfully ignorant about what you can and cannot do on a coach.
As for the ejectees at the ground, I think they got upset and emotional by the Chesterfield fans’ goading them when they scored and tried to step up to them across the neutral zone dividing the two sets of fans.

Yeah that’s fair. It was not Stead’s best day for us and a switch like that might well have been better.11bee717 wrote: ↑11 Nov 2023, 21:33Correct decision for me, stead was all over the place and we needed someone to hold it up. I'm 99% sure he's in Rob Hall fitness management mode for whatever injury/fitness related reason. It always feels like he's coming on/off at very round times (e.g 60 mins, 75 mins, HT) and his partner has been liking tweets when people suggest that theory.

His "partner" likes anything that mentions him positively. I wouldn't read too much into that.Ajtheone04 wrote: ↑11 Nov 2023, 21:50I'm 99% sure he's in Rob Hall fitness management mode for whatever injury/fitness related reason. Re: Chesterfield (A) The Chester Way I'm Fielding Match Thread
Didn’t he play 90 minutes in the Middlesex Senior Cup on Tuesday? That would suggest it’s not a fitness issue and that he’s just out of favour. I think he’s been superb pretty much every time he’s featured this season and how Brunt and Pritchard are getting in the midfield ahead of him I have no idea. I would have starred him and Hartigan today and at the very least he should have come on for Brunt. If we want to have a successful season we can’t afford to have out-of-form players in the team week after week.Ajtheone04 wrote: ↑11 Nov 2023, 21:50I'm 99% sure he's in Rob Hall fitness management mode for whatever injury/fitness related reason. I don't know who you heard that from? I thought the behaviour on the coach was much worse on the return trip. I shan't be putting myself through that again.
