Rubbish draw at a place we know well. By then we should have some extra bodies back to be able to rest a few key players.

You pre-empted my question John.
Chesterfield should be docked league 21 points for fielding a weakened team!

Why is it a rubbish draw? It’s not a place we’ve been to much recently - after 90/91 we’ve only visited twice.Underhill Glory wrote: ↑15 Jan 2024, 15:32 Rubbish draw at a place we know well. By then we should have some extra bodies back to be able to rest a few key players.
Re: FA Trophy 3rd round draw
Obviously home is preferable but as away games go at least it's not Gateshead or Solihull or Macclesfield. Plus as they are sitting in the relegation zone in NLS you would hope if we went with a strong 11 we should give ourselves a good chance of getting to another trophy quarter final
Re: FA Trophy 3rd round draw
It's a winnable London game at a nice (well i like it) ground which will provide some respite to the wallets of our loyal away supporters and afford others the chance of boosting those numbers.Underhill Glory wrote: ↑15 Jan 2024, 15:32 Rubbish draw at a place we know well. The perfect draw and still opens up the possiblity of Barnet v Hendon final.

Uninspiring but winnable and not too far to travel.
I had it stuck in my head that we were going to draw Chorley away. So pleased I got that wrong!

Re: FA Trophy 3rd round draw
Their current form is second worst in NLS. So we have a chance

The perfect draw? I'd have preferred a home tie for a change.John Hunt wrote: ↑15 Jan 2024, 15:36It's a winnable London game at a nice (well i like it) ground which will provide some respite to the wallets of our loyal away supporters and afford others the chance of boosting those numbers.Underhill Glory wrote: ↑15 Jan 2024, 15:32 Rubbish draw at a place we know well. Wealdstone v Hendon is a local derby. I remember watching a nasty game between the two when they were in the same division. Not the best reward for beating Oldham but i hope they win.

Re: FA Trophy 3rd round draw
After a 400+ round trip in the last round and the risk of drawing Gateshead, Macclesfield, Chorley etc, I can well imagine why they're happy about only a 20 mile round trip to Wealdstone.

And so he should.jerroll wrote: ↑15 Jan 2024, 15:43Dean treats all games the same and picks the strongest xi available so no resting needed! try following your own user name cups are about glory!Underhill Glory wrote: ↑15 Jan 2024, 15:32 Rubbish draw at a place we know well. Re: FA Trophy 3rd round draw
Just had a look at Welling forum. Apparently all bar one of the team who played on Saturday ( which presumably was their strongest side) are young, their goal scorers aged 18 and 20 and there was a 17 y.o. playing.
Chesterfield's antipathy towards their FAT match v Welling was such that not only did they send the youth team players but Paul Cook didn't even bother going!
