Re: (Near) Rivals
We just need to keep winning!
I’ll admit to feeling nervous again now after York won, leaving them 11 points back with 21 to play for.
Then I remind myself that we haven’t been beaten in 24, haven’t dropped points in 8, and haven’t conceded a goal in 6, and I feel a bit better!
Still, not done till it’s done.

Re: (Near) Rivals
I thought Rochdale v York would be a draw, brought right down to earth by that score. However York have only done to Rochdale what we did to them and had the match not been postponed, they'd have won earlier, which would have been expected then.
11 points lead is still good, just that 14 points was better!
Will be difficult on Saturday having to want Wealdstone to win!!

Re: (Near) Rivals
I agree - we absolutely want to win it ourselves rather than when they drop points, but either way, it’s job done - they’re simply not catching us.
Re: (Near) Rivals
Yeah, the Halifax (05) and Gateshead (15) games were very special memories, and it’ll be a shame if the scheduling robs us of a similar experience this year. Especially as the games aren’t even on TV nor available to anyone other than National League subscribers, and there is no need for early/late kick-offs on Good Friday as there’s no 3pm black-out in operation!

Re: (Near) Rivals
Fair play to York....I really didn't see them winning tonight and they seem to have put a marker down for the rest of the playoff hopefuls.
Don't think a result like this makes the slightest bit of difference for us. We concentrate on ourselves and we'll have our feet up by Easter Sunday enjoying everyone else panic.

Re: (Near) Rivals
Exactly! (regarding your first comment) - we just need to win our matches and don’t have to worry about what they’re doing … and also, some here might be forgetting that to put REAL pressure on us, they need to be nigh on perfect and not drop a point from here on in - that’s not happening.Stereotypical Barnet wrote: ↑25 Mar 2025, 22:00 We just need to keep winning!

Re: (Near) Rivals
Perhaps Wealdstone can do us a favour and collect three points up at York on Saturday.
Re: (Near) Rivals
So if York beat Wealdstone on Saturday, which they surely will, and we lose to our bogey team Gateshead, and our lead drops to 8 points will we start to worry? Just asking.

Re: (Near) Rivals
I’m pretty confident that we will beat Gateshead handily. If you’ve watched any of the highlights of their recent matches you’ll see why. They look miles off it.
Re: (Near) Rivals
I am back for Good Friday
I can feel an absolutely epic day coming on! Starting from 12.30

Re: (Near) Rivals
All last night means is it will probably be the Eastleigh game rather than the Wealdstone game. First world problems.
Re: (Near) Rivals
York's results only have relevance if we go on a poor run. the gap is irrelevant as long as we do our job and pick up 11 points from 7 games - if York drop points it makes the job easier but we are more than capable of getting 11 points.
Re: (Near) Rivals
The day we play Wealdstone, York are actually at home to Aldershot at 3pm but the point still holds.BeeArmy22 wrote: ↑25 Mar 2025, 21:21It’s a bit confusingStereotypical Barnet wrote: ↑25 Mar 2025, 21:19Yeah makes no sense. If anything York picking up form means we are more likely to win it on the pitch. Only situation I can think of when we would win it off the pitch is if they lost to Gateshead in the early KO when we play late.Berlinbee wrote: ↑25 Mar 2025, 21:17confused by thisBeeArmy22 wrote: ↑25 Mar 2025, 21:15 Unless they drop points before the 5th looking like we’ll win it without playing as such. Wealdstone and fylde two winnable games, if they took 6 from that they’d be playing twice before we were playing again and only way they stay in it is to take maximum points (this is assuming we take maximum points as well)
If we take max points and they take max points we win it against Eastleigh after our match
If we take max points until Wealdstone (12:30ko), we need York to win that day at 17:30 and on Saturday at 12:30 before we then play at 17:30. Very plausible they drop points in one of those 2 games, which would hand us the title.
It could be a case of staying at the Hive that day if possible - although annoying the club can't stream the York game (some of us may know how to but the live score apps would ruin that anyway).
If it can happen on Good Friday then surely the club will stream the Gateshead v York game earlier just in case they drop points & hand it to us - not sure we'd all fit in Moranos.
If we do win it at home will everyone stay around the Hive, Moranos & back to Barnet?
Re: (Near) Rivals
Just to increase the nerves we haven't beaten Gateshead since that famous day - 25th April 2015 - when we clinched the Championship! Since then in the League we have Drawn 2 & Lost 5! Hopefully that all changes on Saturday!
I love Luisma & really miss his skils!
Re: (Near) Rivals
Hence my comment that they are our "bogey team".
