We could sign Erling Haaland and you would say "this is all fine and good but we need a left back". Your negativity is hilarious.BeesKnees99 wrote: ↑01 Feb 2024, 09:21 This is all well and good but with Nicke out we desperately need a striker

Re: Luke Freeman signs!
Luke Freeman made his first team debut coming on as a sub against us... Anyone without Google know for whom, and what record did he break when he did that?
Re: Luke Freeman signs!
Well he was at Gillingham before he went to Arsenal so I’m going to assume Gillingham.
Not sure what the record would be, but I’m guessing it’s age related considering he would have been about 6 years old when he was in the Gillingham first team squad.
Re: Luke Freeman signs!
I was there. FA Cup tie against Gillingham at Underhill. He became the youngest player to play in the competition at the age of 15 I think. We won 2 1 with goals from Hatch and Yakabu if I remember correctly
Re: Luke Freeman signs!
Yup, spot on! I was there with a couple of Gills fans and loved it - 2 of my favourite ever players scoring for us
Re: Luke Freeman signs!
I hardly ever agree with Bees knees but on this occasion he is right. We need another striker who can hold the ball up and score his fair share and we have done since August. Hooper was never a suitable stand in for Kebamba even if he was fit.Bee_Forever wrote: ↑01 Feb 2024, 11:54We could sign Erling Haaland and you would say "this is all fine and good but we need a left back". We don't seem to have learned from last season in this respect.pletch99 wrote: ↑01 Feb 2024, 19:17I hardly ever agree with Bees knees but on this occasion he is right. I cant remember which manager it was, but he said signing a player is like buying a house - it is reliant on a chain that you don't have control of, and could collapse at any moment. As a result you spread the net far and wide, and what happens, happens. I dare say we have more than one move for a striker ongoing at the moment, and that we are more than capable of dealing with more than one transfer in more than one position at a time. Just look at yesterday - 2 players signed in two positions. We may have multiple deals for a striker fall through already. Some players may be waiting to see if they can get a league club before the transfer deadline.pgbee wrote: ↑01 Feb 2024, 19:43We don't seem to have learned from last season in this respect.pletch99 wrote: ↑01 Feb 2024, 19:17I hardly ever agree with Bees knees but on this occasion he is right. That being said I wouldn't be surprised if we have signed a striker today, but are waiting until an hour or so before kick off to announce the signing - that seems to have been the pattern with quite a lot of our transfers recently (Hooper, Smith and Cropper spring to mind - and I can barely remember anything so there must be more).

He’s a very bright bloke, is this Anthony chap. I certainly pay some credence to his Very balanced perspective.

Far fetched / 100% accurateRoy57 wrote:Bit far fetched on clubs Twitter ( X ) account it says " welcome back Adam", he made one loan appearance in 2013, from Wycombe. Hopefully this signing will be more fruitful. Welcome to Barnet Adam.

IMO since teams started playing 1 up top there’s a dearth of quality strikers which means that you have to pay big wages for strikers who are good but not that brilliant. It also means that every half decent striker has an abundance of options so we’re susceptible to deals falling throughAnthony wrote: ↑01 Feb 2024, 19:49I cant remember which manager it was, but he said signing a player is like buying a house - it is reliant on a chain that you don't have control of, and could collapse at any moment. Re: Luke Freeman signs!
Thought he did ok when he came on.
Freeman and Thompson
Thompson was very assured and other than that blip at the end we looked very solid.
Does the gap between Thompson's first and second Barnet appearance represent a record?
