Not great news....

"As per the FA Charges released for January 2024, midfielder Harry Pritchard has breached FA Rule E8

He’s alleged to have placed 150 bets between 23rd August 2015 and 30th September 2023

Allegedly each bet is a separate breach of FA Rule E8"

Oh dear. That's not good for either of us.

Presumably these bets are on games involving us or whichever club he was attached to at the time, otherwise why would it matter?

INCIDENT OF MISCONDUCT – BETTING
Harry Pritchard, Player, Barnet FC

Breach of FA Rule E8 – He is charged with Misconduct under FA Rule E1(b) in respect of 150 bets placed on football matches between 23 August 2015 to 30 September 2023. It is alleged that each bet is a separate breach of FA Rule E8 (as applicable).

Mr Pritchard admits the Charge and elects a Personal Hearing.

As a footballer you've got to be really, really thick to do this.

Players are told time and time again that they can't bet on ANYTHING involving football. This is literally drilled into them.

If he is found guilty then unfortunately he deserves anything that is coming his way from the FA.

I thought all professional footballers are prohibited from betting on football in any way shape or form.

If he did it it is daft perhaps but remember gambling can be an addiction that needs treatment. Be kind.

Not necessarily, you cannot have a bet on the FA Cup final if you played in the competition that season for example.

Footballers cannot bet on football matches, regardless of which league or competition. They surely should all know that.
Losing Pritchard is terrible news for us. All self inflicted.

He’s let everyone down. Dean, his teammates, the fans and the chairman, who gave him a new contract while he was betting in the back ground. Not good enough I’m afraid. Footballers know the rules, you can’t bet. I have no sympathy with him unfortunately.

My sympathy runs out when it's outweighed by stupidity. If he really was ill enough that he needed to bet, he should have bet on horse racing, cricket, rugby etc.

On his Twitter he describes himself as an NFT investor, so obviously likes making money etc. As John says, you never know if someone might have an addiction but this seems stupid of him. Shame as he was my favourite player last season, but if guilty this would tarnish that.
