Marvin Armstrong

Post: # 371199Post WillesdenBee »

Gone to York for an undisclosed fee. Not surprised he's gone to play under his old gaffer. Not progressed enough for me to have him stick around. No footballing brain and really limited technically. Always gives the minimum asked of him, to run a lot, but don't see him going much further unless he improves his all round game. Good luck to him.

Seems like a bit of a harsh summation of his time here. He's easily good enough for this level just not a starter for a top 3 team. I'd rather have him as an option than Senior tbh

Hopefully freeing up money for another left sided defender. Marv showed great promise when he first arrived but hasn't been able to kick on this season, wish him well especially as York still play shots , Bromley Halifax and Solihell

I for one am sad to see him go. I think his performances this season where hugely impacted by a lack of confidence - possible because he'd worked out the management team didn't really believe in him anymore.

Maybe a little harsh but that is football for you I guess! My pet hate in football is players getting praised for running about a lot. That should be the minimum, especially if you are limited in other aspects, which I, and I suspect the MT, believe Marv is. He has the physical capacity to go places but is just not technically gifted enough. Credit to him for always giving 100% but relegation scrap/league below is more his level.

I'd rather Senior (only marginally) as at least he can create something out of nowhere with some trickery or flair, albeit not very often. There is a reason neither get anywhere near our best 11 and there was more chance of cashing in on Marv than Senior, who will be most likely not be here next season anyway.

Regardless of his football ability, I think it’s a terrible decision for him to join York. The club is a complete shitshow at the moment and they’re going to get relegated. Just watch the highlights of their 6-1 defeat at Altrincham on Tuesday.

Very harsh , came with a rep as a defensive midfielder ( I think ) then played as an attacker because he’s quick

Considering he couldn't get game time even with our injury crisis this doesn't come us a major surprise. A shame, he was one I was optimistic about when he first came in but that's football. For the style we now try to play, he doesn't really suit.

Hopefully means we can bring another in.

Is there a deadline date for making new signings?

OK player on his day but that sitter he missed against Halifax at home told me everything I needed to know.

No deadline but if we sign any more loan players we will have to carefully juggle them due to the limit on how many are allowed to be named in a fixture :D

Deadline likely to be Maundy Thursday, no reason if someone we want for next season comes available not to sign them permanently even 8f it costs a nominal fee.

We played him as a high presser because his technique was poor and he wasn’t secure enough on the ball.
Hartigan or Armstrong? No contest
