FC Halifax (Club Tropicana) The Milk Float Match Thread
So...... Saturday/Sunday sees the Bees travel to FC Halifax/somewhere in Yorkshire as we complete our regular away (ish) schedule in the Banarama League.
With the pitch looking more uneven than a Killers album there is already doubt about the game being on and although the weather is improving another centremetre of rain today will make the pitch more akin to a BMX rally than a surface for playing professional football. I have seen the usual oiks on twitter saying to call the game off and award points to Barnet but that would be very undfair on FC Halifax whose ground issues are caused by their local council Colderfail (sorry Calderdale) taking a very ineffective approach to maintaining what is a community pitch.
Vera Lynn sang "we'll meet again, don't know where, don't know when" and this is very much the vibe this fixture is givin off with the possiblity of a one day postponement or a move of grounds looking increasingly possible (EDIT: Now confirmed for Accrington). I have got advance tickets from St Chavs to Leeds so will be able to pivot if the match happens at 3pm on Saturday but otherwise I and many others will be left all dressed up with nowhere to go on Saturday which is a shameful situation and one the Council should be called to account for.
On the rare occasions they are able to get on the pitch FC Halifax are in good form with 10 points from their last 5 games and if they win their two games in hand they have a good chance of a home eliminator (or whatever ground it ends up at!).
For Barnet we have had bit of a middling sequence albeit against some tough opponents and Dean will be keen to get us in to playoff form. If however we end up playing on the swamp I think he may be forced to make some pragmatic decisions both to take a more direct approach and also to protect some of our players whose fitness is a risk. This is the team I would go with:-
----------------------------Keeley-----------------------------
---Cropper---------Collinge-------Thompson-----Coker---
--Pritchard---------Hartigan------Gorman--------Stead----
---------------------O'Donkor----Kabamba-------------------
Subs: Walker, Hall-Johnson, Okimo, Kanu, Freeman
Hoping this game will be on somewhere in Yorkshire on Saturday. Lets secure third then we can relegate the 85%ers next week.

Will your train tickets get you to Accrington on time?

Good luck to everyone making the detour.
Fair play to Halifax for sorting this out with at least a few days notice. A postponement would have caused further chaos. Fingers crossed we will have no congestion in our own fixture list, it will be other playoff rivals who have more of a tiring schedule.

Barnet showing all the flair of Rupert-the-Bears trousers, but lots more style!

The thread title now needs to be edited!

The crown has been a mudpatch in the past like when we travelled there 4 times in 09/10!
Re: FC Mudpatch (Away/Neutral) The Vera Lynn Match Thread
Accrington has rarely been a venue we do well at. Time to change that...

I wonder if the game will still be streamed for the foreign fans - I fear it won’t be!
Re: FC Mudpatch (Away/Neutral) The Vera Lynn Match Thread
No reason why it wouldn't be. Accrington broadcast their games so the camera positions are there. The NL just need to divert their cameras and kit and plug them into the fibre broadband.

Will we have access to the "Wham Bar"?

If Gateshead lose tonight I believe that would mean the only way we could miss out on top 3 would be if Gateshead beat Bromley on the final day (on top of both winning all their other remaining games)
It would rule out the draw or Bromley win in that game as Gateshead could not achieve 80pts with a loss tonight & those results.
Yes I am overthinking it.
