Gateshead Kicked Out
Re: Gateshead Kicked Out
Is this an omen, some good news coming our way on underhill day 21st April ?!
Re: Gateshead Kicked Out
Seeing several other clubs' forums and twitter saying they are having issues with permission to replace their pitch if they go up.Anthony wrote: ↑21 Apr 2024, 15:09What are the Bromley rumours?Mikel Bee wrote: ↑21 Apr 2024, 15:05 They made it to a sensible decision in the end. For a period they had us playing Altrinchan which seemed very unfair.
Following the same precedent, if the Bromley rumours are true which I hope they aren't, we'd get a bye to Wembley. Or would Alty stroll to the final without kicking a ball?

Surely they would’ve been kicked out alongside Gateshead then?Mikel Bee wrote: ↑21 Apr 2024, 15:19Seeing several other clubs' forums and twitter saying they are having issues with permission to replace their pitch if they go up.Anthony wrote: ↑21 Apr 2024, 15:09What are the Bromley rumours?Mikel Bee wrote: ↑21 Apr 2024, 15:05 They made it to a sensible decision in the end. Re: Gateshead Kicked Out
Right decision to give Alty the bye but wow - what a complete shambles.
Fortunately we now have the biggest advantage, hopefully we will play a knackered Solihull or Halifax.
I’m sure it’ll change again in 5 minutes when Bromley get kicked out!

That would also require Bromley's match to be moved to Saturday.CrawleyBee wrote: ↑21 Apr 2024, 15:23

Solihull v Halifax should clearly have been arranged for Tuesday, ridiculous to make it Wednesday. Especially if Halifax win and have a 2 hour plus journey home on Wednesday evening then have a 3.5 hour journey down to The Hive for Saturday.
Re: Gateshead Kicked Out
Whilst I'm sure Altrincham are very pleased with the outcome, their site mentions they'd already made record sales of tickets for their P.O. eliminator and will now have to refund them all, which obviously is a big job.
Re: Gateshead Kicked Out
That's also a sad state of affairs. Would have been a big home occasion for them and their fans, memories made to boot, as much as we are looking forward to a big match at the Hive in front if what's looking like a big crowd.
Barnet showing all the flair of Rupert-the-Bears trousers, but lots more style!
Re: Gateshead Kicked Out
Mess all round, awful for everyone involved at Gateshead but given the circumstances the right outcome (finally) arrived at. Also (very selfishly) relieved to not have the prospect of playing Gateshead given our record against them but would far prefer that that had been determined on the pitch.

Wow how crazy.
Makes sense Altrincham getting bye instead.

"Probably the reason why the council has been compelled to do this"rudebwoyben wrote: ↑21 Apr 2024, 13:41 It seems that Gateshead Council were unwilling to offer the 10 year security of tenure that the club needed to be eligible for promotion to the EFL as they’re looking to outsource the operation of the stadium to a private contractor. Probably the reason why the council has been compelled to do this is the massive reduction in central government grants to local authorities since 2010. So yet another thing that the Tories are to blame for.

You went from 'probably' to 'definitely' really quite quickly.
This is probably/definitely what it's like on the Guardian comments section.

Look, local authorities have been massively defunded in the past decade. That is a fact.Norfolk & Chance wrote: ↑21 Apr 2024, 16:33"Probably the reason why the council has been compelled to do this"rudebwoyben wrote: ↑21 Apr 2024, 13:41 It seems that Gateshead Council were unwilling to offer the 10 year security of tenure that the club needed to be eligible for promotion to the EFL as they’re looking to outsource the operation of the stadium to a private contractor. Anyway, the latest update is that the council has given Gateshead the necessary assurances but possibly not within the deadline!
