Post: # 378958Post PBBee »

We’ve just signed Richard Nartey- another centre back???

Oluwo
Kizzi
Kenlock
Collinge
Okimo
Rye
Grimwood
Nartey

He seems like a very nice chap from his welcome video.

Must mean Danny is off which will leave us with 6 centre backs given Grimwood is on loan which is optimum.

Also guessing that Ryan Glover will be announced/sign at some stage as that clue seemed too obvious and like a tease so maybe Twitter admin is playing us.

Richard Nartey is a strange one. Came through the Chelsea Academy with quite some pedigree, (but don't they all), but the difference initially is that he has played in League 1 for Burton and League 2 for both Mansfield and Salford.

It still seems like a very strange signing, no matter which of our defenders are leaving, (Cropper & DC seem most likely).

While he seems as un-Deano-like a signing as you could imagine, ("hamstrings made from paper-mache"), I wonder if he's agreed to sign on a pittance just to be playing again and playing locally. He's a property developer now and after time at Chelsea on good money and then time at Burnley, (on still good money), maybe football is not all about the money for him now. It's the only way this signing makes sense, (other than his playing style of course).

I think there could be a few more ins and outs in the next couple of weeks.

Another defender didn't see that coming, and another signing with huge injury record, guess last season our medical room was on previous season's quite, not anymore they sure will be earning there wages.

We can finally do it.

-----------Cropper
---Grimwood-Oluwo-Okimo
Kizzi----Tavares-Rye----Kenlock
--------Matyar-Nartey
-----------Collinge

Cropper can use his long throw to good effect.
Collinge scores more than some strikers.
Rye good enough on the ball to play in middle of pitch, (maybe).
So just Matyar & Nartey playing out of position then!
This team would honestly win National League games.

The problem isn't that Nicke doesn't score enough goals.
The problem is that we're too reliant on Nicke scoring goals.
We need Kanu & Brunty to be hitting 10.
We need Stead to be hitting 15-20, (and I'm sure he will).
Nicke has far more good than bad, and I fully expect him to fill his boots against someone soon. Fingers crossed that's against FGR on Tuesday night.
Completely agree that we need someone to come in and play like for like with him. Would love that to be Tshimanga or G'OD. Would prefer if it wasn't Nile Ranger.
Rumours on Twitter this morning swindon have broken through in agreeing terms with Tshimanga

Would also love GO’D but can’t see him dropping to the NL and even if he did would imagine Oxford would want a guarantee he’ll start most games which not sure we could do with Nicke and stead

We’ll have to see who this elusive forward ends up being!

Ryan Glover signed. Will fit our system down to a tee. Played 44 games for Aldershot at left wing back last season and turned down a new deal to look for an EFL move. That didn't come about for a few reasons (including the payment of a compensation package to Aldershot). We beat other top clubs, including Southend, to his signature. Big big signing.

I believe he can fill in at centre-back, which is a relief….
I was there when Shaun Batt scored…
