Re: Transfers 2024/25
He missed about 8 months over 2 seasons when he did his ACL, and then missed about 2 months with a pulled hammy towards the end of this season. Despite that, he still played 33 games season just gone.
FGR fans say he hasn't been the same since his injury, but he still score a goal every 3 games in a rubbish team that got relegated in the league above us.
2023/24. 11 goals in 33 games.
2022/23. 1 goal in 23 games.
2021/22. 27 goals in 42 games.
2020/21. 6 goals in 36 games.
Total. 45 goals in 134 games at an average of 11.25 goals from 33.5 appearances over the last 4 seasons.
So despite 2 serious injuries in the last 4 seasons, he's still played quite a lot of matches. I think there are still doubts about his fitness, but being fit over the Summer and having a full pre-season somewhere will surely help him.
I think DB is unlikely to go for him, but saying that I think that question marks over his fitness might mean that he's a more achievable signing for a National League club who don't have the biggest budget, because let's be honest, it's going to be expensive to sign a player who scored 23 League 2 goals in 21/22.
I would be surprised to see him drop down to the National League.

Jeff King leaving Chesterfield. One of the best in the league when fit and playing regularly. Would fit our system perfectly. Depends what sort of money he'd want, but if he was willing to take a cut, I am sure he is one we would try and get in. Better than all 4 of our current wingbacks combined.

I still have nightmares about buying the stream in lockdown and watching him score 17 seconds in vs us. Impressive every time I have seen him.WillesdenBee wrote:Jeff King leaving Chesterfield. I fear Peterborough will go for Collinge if Edwards moves on

And if it was to replace Edwards then the fee we’ll receive for that, plus any fee for Collinge will more than compensate!

Re: Transfers 2024/25
DB got a lot of transfer business done early last season which gave plenty of time for the team to gel in Pre-season. I hope he can do the same this season and our preparations are not scuppered by other sides coming in for our players late, like Peterborough signing EMC, which caused us to lose momentum the previous season

Watching the Peterborough - Oxford game last night (looking at the ground, thinking more about the Marlon King double game as opposed to the 2000 playoffs!) they mentioned that Posh will be cashing in for Jack Taylor getting to the Premiership. Do we have a similar clause?!

We get a percentage of whatever Posh get.jzsbee wrote: ↑09 May 2024, 09:52 Watching the Peterborough - Oxford game last night (looking at the ground, thinking more about the Marlon King double game as opposed to the 2000 playoffs!) they mentioned that Posh will be cashing in for Jack Taylor getting to the Premiership. Sir John Akinde let go by Colchester. Not surprising given his age but not for one second do I think we should try and re-sign him.
He will always be one of Barnet FC's greatest ever strikers and the ice-cool penalty taker of all time. You could stake your house on him to score from 12 yards.
I hope he finds a decent club and achieves more success in his long career.

That penalty at home to Carlisle in our relegation season will always haunt mePsycho wrote: ↑09 May 2024, 09:59 Sir John Akinde let go by Colchester. Not surprising given his age but not for one second do I think we should try and re-sign him.
