Re: Some very interesting developments!
No plans for the vacant south stand area? I thought we could have had our standing area back there seeing as no seating stand is being built?
Re: Some very interesting developments!
I can't really visualise where the new tunnel (more a covered walkway, I assume) will be located. What is the justification for it and new changing rooms at considerable cost? Will the changing rooms replace the bar?
A longer pitch certainly sounds like an invitation to an rugby club - Ealing perhaps.
Great to have a standing area on the side of the pitch although the east side is dreadfull in terms of direct sunshine and rain. A cleverly designed roof could do the trick. Will it be a "no bad language" zone, being so close to the directors!?
Calls for a visit next week, I think.

Rugby or possibly NFL, given the talks about setting up a London franchise. There’s no way moving the dressing rooms and building a new tunnel - neither of which will come cheap - is about BFC. Planning ahead for another team to use the Hive would make the sudden announcement about moving back to Barnet make sense too.
Re: Some very interesting developments!
NFL may take a while, Jacksonville were using London as as bait to get more funding from their local authority to renovate their existing stadium which passed recently so until the next stadium issue comes up or they expand from 32 to 36 teams it's unlikely a London Franchise will occur. THL was a likely training centre as opposed to home stadium!!WhetstoneBee wrote: ↑24 May 2024, 13:58 Rugby or possibly NFL, given the talks about setting up a London franchise. Dressing rooms for NFL have to be absolutely ginormous. There are separate dressing rooms for NFL at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium because the soccer ones are too small for all the required equipment plus an army of hulking great blokes.jerroll wrote: ↑24 May 2024, 14:02NFL may take a while, Jacksonville were using London as as bait to get more funding from their local authority to renovate their existing stadium which passed recently so until the next stadium issue comes up or they expand from 32 to 36 teams it's unlikely a London Franchise will occur. Re: Some very interesting developments!
They could be re-configuring the changing rooms towards the ticket office end?
Having standing on the East side will bolster the atmosphere

Barnet showing all the flair of Rupert-the-Bears trousers, but lots more style!
Re: Some very interesting developments!
I hope the Club give us more information re the Safe Standing area.
What is the capacity?
Is that the end of the Singing Area in the Legends Stand?
Will the drummer be allowed into the SS area? If so can he stand really close to TK (he he)?
Will the seated Family Stand still be located at the South East corner?
Will the Refreshment Hut be re-opened near the South East turnstiles?
What about toilets? Are we restricted to those in the Hive Bar?
Will there be the need for more stewards/ match day staff?
I hope that the Club gives us answers to these questions plus others that have been asked in other posts.

Re: Some very interesting developments!
I think the attraction and reality of safe standing will still not give a true standing experience.
The whole thing about standing is you are not paying to stand on an exact fixed spot and can move around terrace.
To get better sight lines etc. especially if you are behind the biggest man in the world / want to be in the singing zone / as far away as possible from the singing!
Safe standing you are effectively fixed to a single spot that I guess is the main difference - to me it is not much different from a seat apart from the fact you get to stand on a fixed spot.
You can also look forward to getting soaked when it rains and sunburnt when it is sunny.
The lengthinging of the pitch has to be the reason the stand has not been built yet.
This has also reinforced my opinion that should South Underhill go ahead - the club will move root and branch there and will only rely on income streams the site generates - i.e. proceeds from The Hive will no longer be chanelled to Barnet FC

Re: Some very interesting developments!
I've always thought that the name "safe standing " is a mis-nomer. As Hoofer2 says it's just like a seated terrace but with all the seats turned up in the most common type. You are allocated a spot and your movement is restricted to left or right and you have to squeeze past others in the row it seems.

Think it's 53 playersjerroll wrote: ↑24 May 2024, 14:54yep 48 players plus coaches!Norfolkbee wrote: ↑24 May 2024, 14:50Dressing rooms for NFL have to be absolutely ginormous. Re: Some very interesting developments!
Active roster is 53 but only 46 (not 48!) can be dressed on a match day.
Re: Some very interesting developments!
I'm abroad and out of touch but has any work started on the Hive pitch etc?
Re: Some very interesting developments!
Do we know when pre-season training starts?
