Well, didn’t the bookies get it right last week? What a great performance from our Bees.
Yes, Ebbsfleet were pretty dire but I don’t think any club in the NL, or even Leagues 1 or 2, would have beaten us such was our performance

Saturday’s home fixture will not be quite so easy. Halifax are just outside the play offs and I guess if they head back up to Yorkshire unbeaten they will be cock a hoop. A draw will be like a win for them. A win for them will be the catalyst for an open top bus ride through the Pennines.

Again not great odds on a home win (surprise, surprise) so how about a bet on the first goal scorer?
Kabamba 3/1, Browne and Stead both 15/4 and my 10p is going on Shelts to get that first goal of the afternoon. He is 11/1.

I guess one point is better than none and probably a draw was a fair result against a Halifax team which will surely finish in the top 7 this season.

Sutton United at home on Boxing Day will be no easier, despite what the bookies think.

Two consecutive home draws for the Bees and now a tricky little encounter away to Eastleigh.

I’m dreaming of a nine point Christmas. Hmmm. Dream on!

I fear we may drop more points on New Year’s Day and lose our spot at the top. Hopefully I will be wildly wrong and Nicke will get a hat trick in a 5 0 win.

Before we can make the short trip down the road to Wembley Stadium we first have to head up the motorway system to the North West where Altrincham (twice winners of the FA Trophy) await the Bees (once beaten finalists).

Is this our year?
Well, the bookies have us 6/1 joint favourites to lift the Trophy alongside FGR and York City.
I would hold back a tad before speculating or dreaming of black and amber ribbons adorning the Trophy and an open-top bus parading up Barnet Hill. There is the little matter of beating Alty first.

Alty have not played a game since Boxing Day so a nice rest for them. Barnet played on Wednesday, that’s only couple of days to recover before heading north.

Let’s put it this way. If I were an Alty fan I would be lumping on them at 9/5.
As a seasoned Bees fan I am more hesitant on speculating at 5/4.
Maybe the draw. I will decide when I see the team news at 2pm tomorrow.

At last some decent(ish) odds for a Bees win.
Yes, a tough ask to go down to deepest Gloucestershire and come back with three points, but not impossible.

Looking at the form table (last six games) Barnet sit 6th and FGR 10th. Both have won 2, drawn 4 and lost 0 but the Bees have a slightly superior goal difference. So a bet on the Bees to win would have some credence.

We will all be wondering how the Bees get on without Nicke. I have a sneaky feeling that we will actually ask a few more questions with Ndolovu replacing him in the squad.

I hope some of you banked some dosh betting on the draw down in foggy Gloucestershire on Tuesday. I didn’t!

Another of my bets which seems doomed is the small bet I did at the start of the season. I thought the 12/1 offered on Southend United to win the NL was decent each way value. It wasn’t!
The Shrimpers have had an unremarkable season thus far and their current odds to win the NL have drifted and drifted and drifted. If any of you think they will have a barnstorming finish to the season you can now get odds of 1000/1.

Meanwhile our odds to win the NL have slipped a bit over the past four weeks.

This weekend we have, on paper, a much easier game, Maidenhead United at home.
The Magpies have visited The Hive on six previous occasions and, let us just say, they may not be relishing their seventh visit.
Their record at The Hive is P6 W0 D0 L6. F3 A12 Pts 0

However, let us not get too complacent. Remember our game at their place earlier in the season!

Our last defeat in the NL was away to York City. Since then we have gone 12 NL games without defeat.
Two questions….1.Will this be our 13th game?….2.Are you superstitious?

Well the bookies got it spot on Saturday. With the Bees in such great form there is little chance to bank a big wedge at the moment.
We are not quite so hot favourites on Tuesday but, there again, Hartlepool will likely offer a bigger threat than Maidenhead United.

We are currently 4th in the Form Table and ‘Pool are 12th but only one point separates us. Keep an eye on the Rochdale v Boston game, also on Tuesday. Rochdale lead the Form Table but Boston did the Bees a massive favour on Saturday by beating York City 3 1.

Since our 7 0 drubbing of Tamworth earlier in the season the Lambs have responded well and have since got some decent results.
They now sit in 15th spot in the NL, clear of the relegation zone and they may even be eyeing a play off spot.
Their performance against Spurs in the FA Cup was fabulous. Such a shame they couldn’t finish off Spurs in the 90 minutes.
We must respect Tamworth and take nothing for granted.

I understand Tamworth has an artificial pitch. That should not worry the Bees, much of our training is done on our artificial pitch.

As with the Hartlepool game I will place my bet during the course of the game in the hope that the odds will get more favourable. It worked on Tuesday so fingers crossed for the same again.

I fully expect Saturday’s away fixture at Boston to be very similar to last week’s 1 0 win at Tamworth.
Both of those opponents sit in the lower half of the table but under-estimate them at your peril.
We did get the three points last week and I expect us to do the same on Saturday, but I do not foresee an easy game, nor indeed, a goal fest.

Boston have only won four games in the NL but their last two wins were 3 1 away to Gateshead and 3 1 at home to York.
We of course beat them at The Hive (also 3 1) but it was a hard-earned win.

In the betting markets it’s similar odds to the Tamworth game.

Given our match record against Solihull Moors this is the one game I really don’t look forward to.
In 15 competitive matches against them theBees have managed just 3 wins.
Last seasons 0 4 play off match still gives me nightmares.

Please, please, please Mr Brennan do your best to inspire our players to get the three points and keep us top of the NL going into Tuesday’s crunch game against York City.

The form table looks good, (last six games) Bees top and Moors in 21st spot so that bodes well. 9 scored and 0 conceded whereas Moors have scored 3 and conceded 6. Good again.
Surely a win!!

Unsurprisingly we are hot favourites.

My intention on Saturday was to do an in-play bet and, thereby, getting better odds on the Bees win. All was going well, the odds drifting nicely. Then, just as I was about to place my bet, Dom Telford walloped in that goal. So no bet. C’est la vie.

People are billing Tuesday’s game against York City as the “Big One”. Yes, it’s important, but so are our remaining 13 games. There’s a long way to go. A win would be fabulous, a draw not the end of the world and, should we lose, there are still 39 points to play for.
