AFC Wimbledon (Hive) The Dons Go Breaking My Heart

Post: # 377917Post Bee_Forever »

So..... Saturday sees the bees face AFC Wimbledon in our final preseason game (well the final one with a crowd).

AFC Wimbledon were founded in the aftermath of the MK Dons debacle but as for stealing another clubs ground their hands are far from clean.

While their crimes are nothing compared to Tinkywinkleman FC it is still a club with some chequered history.

In terms of our team it will be interesting to see what Brennan does I would hope its our strongest team.

‐-----------------------------Hayes--------------------------------

-----------Kizzi----------Tavares------Kenlock-----------

----Hall-Johnson---Hartigan--Shelton--Francis--

-----------------Stead----Kabamba--Browne------------

I am missing this one. Hoping we can put a marker down for the season.

I wasn't aware of this, but not sure they have much case to answer.

The owners sold the ground to AFC W.
The owners then pocketed the money and vanished into the sunset.
AFC W paid £1M more, (this time to Kingstonian as a club rather than the owners), when they sold the ground to Chelsea.

If AFC W has acted poorly, then hasn't Tony K also acted poorly when he bought The Hive from 85%ers?/developers/whoever?

It seems to me that AFC W haven't acted poorly, and far from acting poorly, they've actually "gifted" them £1M from the sale of the ground that they didn't need to, (although it could possibly be argued that this was to buy Kinstonian out of whatever existing rental agreement they had on the ground).

Those who have acted poorly would seem to be the owners of Kingstonian who ran it into the ground in the 1st place, causing it to enter Administration, and the Khosla family who effectively "asset-stripped" it during their tenure.

This is sad, but I don't see any blame attacked to AFC W. What am I missing?

Just to correct the above.

Barnet FC were invited to tender for the Prince
Edward Playing Field site, by Harrow Borough Council.

This was a competitive tender, which Barnet FC won, openly, honestly and by superior business plans.

This Tender invitation, came as the result of the failure and subsequent liquidation of the Wealdstone FC consortium and thus their inability, to carry out and fulfil, all the required elements of their agreement with Harrow Borough Council.

That's exactly my point.

The way that TK bought The Hive and the way that AFC W bought Kingstonian's ground seem pretty similar. Both above board and completely reasonable. Just because Kingstonian/85%ers have lost their ground doesn't mean that there is any blame to be apportioned towards the buying club.

Right?

I don't see that AFC Wimbledon are to be blamed for what happened , just as I have sympathy for the fans of Kingstonian who like the fans of far too many clubs suffered as a result of asset stripper owners. Ultimately the fans are the ones who suffer.

I would even have sympathy for the fans of Wealdstone if they weren't so unpleasant. Even there, I suspect that even they must have some nice fans - if you knew where to find them!

Evening all - wanted to confirm it is a 3pm kick off tomorrow - as site earlier in week was saying it was 1pm (now showing 3pm again).

Noticed that the Maidenhead Away game on Bank Holiday Monday we have as a 19:45 kick off which I think is also wrong (probably just have anything in midweek as 19:45.
