Ebbsfleet (Away) The Trains, Strains and Nonmobiles Match Thread
So..... Saturday sees the bees looking to bounce back after losing out to their own lack of readiness and a very ready and cynical Halifax side.
After we signed 12 players in preseason including the returned Meadow Park, expectations were high that we would see a refreshed Barnet team but injuries and pre-season form saw only three new players starting and Coker and Kanu continuing their toil at wing back while Brunt offered little than his willingness to play two games in a day. An update on when we can expect to see our new talismanic (and of course injury prone) new signings Browne and Tavares would be much appreciated.
As with their wretched local pub the Rose and Crown and rat infested ground Gravesend and Northfleet circle the drain of the National league, occasionally slipping through. I have always found the welcome there to be pleasant however and they have a nice social club/hut. For me Gravesend and Northfleet (I refuse to call them after that defunct train station) is memorable for a large brown rat roaming the terrace and for horrible injuries to Danny Naisbitt and Frazer "the lazer" Toms and for it's scenic views of the Dartford crossing. Eurostar have abandoned the station like rats escaping a sinking ship but at least G&N still have the rats.
In terms of team lineup. We have defensive full backs and two strikers so I think it is time for Brennan to cut his cloth.

Subs: Happy, Coker, Brunt, Rye, Wilkinson, Shelton, Chapman
Doing this one by train to Northfleet using the Lizzie line.

Ebbs is a bit of a dodgy one for the Bees. Not feeling too optimistic about getting our first points on the board eeek.

Are you another Crawley bee ? I’m not doing this one unfortunately, but do travel from Crawley to all the games I go to, home or away.

Don't think DC will be dropped, (despite the errors last week). He's just behind on his pre-season so he needs more mins rather than less.
If there was to be a change at the back then Kizzi did his chances no harm, and if there was 1 defender it looked like we needed on the pitch last weekend then it was Okimo, (who's decision-making on the ball seems better than others).
If we're looking at players who might come in, while the return(arrival) of Tavares & Browne is most eagerly awaited, I wonder if Francis & Wilkinson are more likely to starters?
Chapman shouldn't be dismissed no matter how poor he was last week. I think we all appreciate how important a pre-season is and just as DC is behind the curve in this respect, so is Chapman.
If we go with the same XI as last week then I'm fine with that, but I want to see attacking subs used earlier so that they can have an impact on the game. Let's give Francis & Wilkinson a chance to make an impact from the bench if they don't start.

Match tickets go up in price by £1 at midnight tonight.
That £1 is better in your pocket than in Ebbsfleet’s.

In all seriousness that could actually be the decider in keeping both him & Clifford still in (if Tavares etc are available but not 100%).
