Ebbsfleet (Away) The Trains, Strains and Nonmobiles Match Thread
Re: Ebbsfleet (Away) The Trains, Strains and Nonmobiles Match Thread
Brunt criticism is so boring. Half the fanbase pins the whole responsibility of us scoring solely on him because he’s well thought of by Dean and then throw their toys out the pram when he’s not involved for every second of the 90 minutes. Yes he goes missing at times but no creative attacking midfielder is present and making stuff happen all the time. It would be great if we could learn to appreciate what he adds to the team, a lot of it goes unnoticed.

Will we attack them in the seoond half or fiddle around sitting on our lead? Got 1-1 written all over it.

Brunt is playing far better than last week, but then that's not difficuilt, he and few others are finding themselves in a lot of space, worrying Ebbsfleet have had a few good chances and should of scored from a header but some how managed to head it wide of our goal, yet again even Ebbsfleet have played through our midfield to create chances against us.

Quite a few of the signed players have come from PT football and it's these players who are likely to be eased into things. Also 2 of the 3 players most likely to feature, (Browne & Tavares), on top of the starting Hayes, have been injured.WhetstoneBee wrote: ↑17 Aug 2024, 14:27I agree but the problem is we’ve signed 14 players who, in the vast majority of cases, don’t improve the starting XI. The fact that only three of them are deemed good enough to start (likely four if Browne was fit) and five aren’t even in the squad says a lot. If at the end of last season someone had predicted that we’d be starting this year with Coker and Kanu as our wing-backs and a 31-year-old signed from Ebbsfleet as the replacement for Gorman, I think most of us would have been pretty disappointed. Is the team today any better than the one that played against Solihull? I don’t think so.
It's early days yet.
Last week we have Hayes Kenlock & Clifford, (with previous PT players Francis & Wilkinson used from bench).
This week we have Hayes, Kenlock, Kizzi & Clifford, (with Tavares on bench for 1st time & hopefully see Wilkinson again from bench).
When Browne is fit again we will see him quite quickly.
RHJ likely to make an appearance as fitness grows.
This is a long old season and the last thing we need to do is rush players back from injury or overload players who are new to FT football.
Another goal and maybe this game opens up. At the moment it sounds like we're just pressing them relentlessly and looking to exploit any mistakes.

Fleet commentators very complimentary to both Brunt & Clifford.

At Woking looks like Dion Kelly-Evans has shattered Greg Olley's leg. Very long suspension with two ambulances on the field

Much better second half so far. If Nicke had turned up it could be 4-0. Thankfully Steady (who has been superb again) brought his finishing boots.

Steady x2. I have a sneaky feel he might be our top scorer this season.

Worrying with seven subs we have a keeper and four defenders. Hope injuries improve quickly.

Especially when RHJ is more of an attacker than a defender and Tavares is seen by DB as a midfielder rather than a centre-half.rudebwoyben wrote: ↑17 Aug 2024, 15:38Very weird to be making this sort of post when we’ve just gone 2-0 up!
