The Safe Standing Stand
A great view.
Audio on everything that is said on the home bench.
The most comfortable seats in the house
The cleanest toilets
The smallest tea hut queues
and
The lowest prices
We should soon be able to add … best atmosphere

Agree, Derek. Good to get a bit closer to the action.
I think the thing that may be putting people off watching from the SSS is the lack of a roof covering all four sections.

could you get a beer anywhere at half time?

Re: The Safe Standing Stand
just like being in your own private stand with a few friends.
all of what DerekRocholl said above as well as being much closer to the action, and the choice of sitting or standing.
well worth the price.

Re: The Safe Standing Stand
Looked like a respectable number of fans over there on its debut. Potentially more if the weather held up.
Will be trying it out in due course.

The Safe Standing Stand
I’ll be making it my new spot for sure, loved being nice and close up to the action - better view than the old South Stand too.
Needs some more atmosphere, however, and lack of cover will be a turn-off for many.

Re: The Safe Standing Stand
Seems like half the stand is covered, and it’s not like it’s going to ever sell out anytime soon. Are we over thinking the roof situation?
Re: The Safe Standing Stand
Half the stand may be covered but substantially more than half gets rained on!
That said, it's a great vantage point, including for the Brennan show, and very enjoyable to able to stand to watch the game again, had forgotten how good that is.

Re: The Safe Standing Stand
Good fun in the new stand except when the tunnel comes out then you can barely see anything but obviously that's just while the game isn't live. As I've said on the main match thread anyone with a interest in coaching or tactics would be fascinated by the interaction in the dugouts.....DB and Connor Smith box office, Kevin Maher moaning most of the time probably baffled by how we stifled his side, surprised DC didn't have much input seems very much an assistant there but just an observation in general Southend seemed shocked and powerless to stop what we threw at them bar 10-15 mins in the second half. Anyone thinking about it give it a try sometime.
The Safe Standing Stand
I would definitely be over there after being a south stand season ticket holder but my little boy has his 1st season ticket & is too young to be allowed in there.
I did see your nice empty tea bar & it reminded me of the tea bar we had in the south stand - could go anytime & still watch the game (like the old east terrace one). Don’t touch the tea bars or bar at half time now as don’t want to miss any of the game.
Great value in there as well.
Wonder if they’d let a legends season ticket holder swap seats to there & try it out as it’s a cheaper ticket?

Re: The Safe Standing Stand
If someone has asked this on here before sorry.
To my mind standing is just that and there still numerous grounds in EFL who still have basic terraces. Why not install the precribed barriers on the South slope, limit numbers to a very safe and managible number and then add the seats later if required?

Re: The Safe Standing Stand
No club would now install a basic terrace. We had one, it was removed, it's hard to imagine a situation where it would ever be re-installed.Reckless wrote: ↑26 Aug 2024, 08:54 If someone has asked this on here before sorry.

And people would still get wet!

Re: The Safe Standing Stand
I mentioned this to Village on Saturday and previously on the forum but it could be a good idea to get some Barnet-themed flags attached to the first row barriers to make the area more colourful. This would look great on TV and for the Legends spectators. Noticed the Hitchen Bees flag in the corner against Southend. Image that and more across the whole stand.
On the promotional image online there was a long banner attached the wall (stating 'the bees terrace') but not sure if that was superimposed digitally to promote the ST offering or not (still up on the website).
