Maidenhoof (a) The Ready Steady? Go! Thread

Post: # 379171Post Bee_Forever »

Hooooof..... Monday sees us heading to Bucks to take on Maidenhead United in our latest Bananarama fixture.

With Nicke out of action and no striker signing imminent we will once again rely on column Stead to lead the line. Given how much his game involves a high energy press it will be asking alot of him to go again for another 90 minutes in the space of 48 hours.

Although alot of the ex bees have left the hallowed and rarely played on turf of York Road they still have Craig Ross who endured a torrid time at the hands of our supporters last season.

In terms of our lineup with Kabamba, Browne, Clifford and Collinge out we are somewhat restricted in our rotation options and need to go as strong as we can for a tough fixture.

I would go

-----------------------------Hayes------------------------------

-------------Kizzi--------Tavares--------Kenlock-------

----Kanu--------Shelton-----Hartigan----Glover----

-------------------chapman---Brunt-------------------------

-------------Stead (plus oxygen mask)-----------------

I am missing this one as I am at a music festival. Hoping for three points on the road.

Part of me expects Tavares to start on the bench due to his injury record and importance, also given we have 3 centre back options to replace him

Likewise Chapman may be an impact sub, more tricky who replaces him, possibly Francis or Glover in midfield with Coker as a LWB.

I would like to see some rotation, especially those who don't have a great injury record.

Ideally neither Tavares nor Shelton will start on Monday, but with Oluwo and DC out it means that Nartey might be the only cover and he's another with a history of injury.

For Shelton not to start we would probably need Clifford to be available again, and I'm not sure how likely that is. Would DB risk playing Brunt in there/

I would certainly like these players not to play more than an hour.

It's such a shame that Wilkinson is injured while Nicke is out, because this is just the sort of opportunity he needs.

I think Coker is nailed on to start, and despite the fact that i think RHJ is a better option than kanu at the moment, what Kanu does have in his favour is that he's rarely injured, and that can't be ignored.

Completely agree, however every NL club is in the same position of tomorrow playing their 5th match in 16 days - for all bar 2 it's their 2nd match in 3 days and some teams, including Maidenhead, have had a long away fixture included in these 3 days. The fault is with the fixturing of these matches so close together.

Always a good away trip is Maidenhead. Looking forward to seeing a healthy Bees contingent!

For as long as I can remember there has always been a fixture of national league clubs on the August bank holiday.
If memory serves me right am sure when we was in football league we had a game on the bank holiday Monday.

I don't remember re L1/L2 fixtures in the past although I thought they didn't. At least last season and this they don't as they play EFL Trophy matches on Tuesday / Wednesday.

Back in the days when we were in the Southern League we used to play 3 matches in 4 days at Easter.

Back in the 1960s and twice in the 1970s, they did so in the old Division 4 ( L2).

Welsh Premier League big enough to play, all the teams above NL level obviously a bit lazy innit! (Hope no extra injuries let all the lads play safely and a win cometh, amen)

Remember those as well.
Seem to remember going to Wrexham I'm 2005 on bank Holiday Monday. That might have been last time as a football league club?
