Re: Maidenhoof (a) The Ready Steady? Go! Thread
I live in Berkshire and only get to see the Bees 1 - 2 times a season. I have also watched Maidenhead a few times in recent years. Devonshire doesn't set out his teams to play complicated football. They usually have strong, athletic players. They like to get the ball down the wings and into the box. Nothing to intricate. Therefore why pick a team lacking in height and pace to play against them?
I'm not convinced that Brennan is very smart for a Manager. I thought that after the Solihull semi final debacle, and I am more convinced of that now.

Yes we signed a decent amount of players with history of injuries but we’ve got a big enough squad to cope with that. We’ve just got incredibly unlucky that it just so happens all of the guys are out over a 9 day period when we played 4 games. Hopefully get Gatlin in and a couple of players back for this weekend and then we have a full week before a big game at Gateshead who look like they’ll be up there again this season.Uniman61 wrote: ↑27 Aug 2024, 11:39Agree to a point, yes we should of scored a couple of goals but 10 didn't see that, and yes we have a lot of injuries, but why ? Because we signed players with poor I jury record, so why are we surprised when these players are unavailable, last season Dean brought in players that didn't miss games, this year yes on paper better quality but this is meaningless if there injured.BeeArmy22 wrote: ↑26 Aug 2024, 17:41 After Southend everyone was full of praise, one result later when we could’ve scored 10 goals there’s a meltdown. Results like this happen, we’ve got a load of injuries at the moment and had to give a huge effort to beat Southend and forest green in the last 6 days. We’ll be better once we’ve had a bit of rest and some players come back into the squad.

Someone who’s normally very reliable just said on twittter we’re not getting gaitlin in, he lives local to Maidenhead and there’s nothing else in it….the search continues.

Viewed highlights again, it gets worse each time, agree Hayes should of done better and he probably is annoyed himself, but don't see how the goal has been blamed on him, yet again we have slow players playing against a team we know are direct and quick, Hartigan has so many great attributes but pace is not one of them, next to him we have Brunt who does not get involved if he does not have the ball, Coker, the list goes on, simple pass from there player who is running away at ease from a Barnet player to team mates who takes it around Hayes, second goal, dear God, ball played half way in there half down our left ( for about the 10th time ) to a team mates who was in so much space he could of stopped of a adjacent tea had for a coffee before he crossed it to a team mate who again is running clear of two of our players for simple tap in, we knew last year we needed pace in the team, midfield and defenders, and yet we have failed to do this on top of bringing in a striker, Stead for all his good points is not a out and out goal scorer, I do fear when we play teams with pacy midfield players or strikers, when we play Eastleigh are we going to play Stead or similar height player as centre back against a striker who is very good in the air, some will laugh and say that's stupid, but we played slow full backs against fast side players.

Sound a bit like DB but I knew it would not be easy yesterday thought did not ecpect us to concede 3 goals.
We miss Kabamba I reckon if Stead had him up front we would have won that yesterday.

Much as I'd love to be proven wrong, this struck me as obvious right from the moment I saw him yesterday.

No post-match interview? Perhaps after the swearing was edited out there wasn't much left!

There was an interview, but the sound quality was so poor it was hard to hear much of anything at all.

The general gist of it is that while we defended appallingly on numerous occasions, we also missed loads of opportunities ourselves and even with them scoring 3 awful goals, we still should have won.
Key words woeful x4, shambolic, individual errors, sloppy, end product in final third x2, horrendous x2, diabolical, and that was just in the 1st couple of mins.

Cheers! If there had been a "this league is relentless" there would have been a full bingo card.Jimbokav1971 wrote: ↑28 Aug 2024, 10:28There was an interview, but the sound quality was so poor it was hard to hear much of anything at all.

So DB believes that it was all the players fault and nothing to do with his team selection, delay with substitutes and tactics ?
Re: Maidenhoof (a) The Ready Steady? Go! Thread
Personally DB does need to take some blame for the defensive setup, and I don’t like just pinning it on players as it’s lazy. But, we missed 3 proper proper chances that you’d hope we take 8/10 times. 3 goals wins you pretty much every game you play.
Re: Maidenhoof (a) The Ready Steady? Go! Thread
But it's a bit like golf, if you can't putt it puts pressure on the rest of your game...
Re: Maidenhoof (a) The Ready Steady? Go! Thread
Equally though, as he's very keen on telling us, clean sheets win matches. Concede 3 and you have to score 4 to win.
Re: Maidenhoof (a) The Ready Steady? Go! Thread
The point I’m making is even if we keep a clean sheet every game, if you miss the quality of chances that we had, especially on multiple occasions you’re not going to get very far.becbee wrote: ↑28 Aug 2024, 14:58Equally though, as he's very keen on telling us, clean sheets win matches.
