Watching Kanu against some of the Gateshead players really highlights his lack of footballing brain - honestly 1 of the most frustrating players I’ve ever watched.

Is the starting XI any better than last season & not really seen a game yet where our subs & stronger depth has really helped that much.

We seem to look so much less threatening away from home - it’s baffling.

Gateshead 5pts ahead & Forest Green flying after playing 6 away games & 1 home game. Need to win both home games once again this week.

Gateshead are one of the best teams in the league. This is not like loosing to Maidenhead. 39 games to go and and I think we will get get better. Defence needs to improve but not surprising that a few bumps on the road with so many new faces. I also don't think that DB knows who is first choice defence is yet but that should come - surely?!?! Keep the faith!

Yes they got decisions wrong in both directions all match but no serious decisions that affected the score line.

Gateshead are a guaranteed 6 points lost every season. For whatever reason Brennan gets outfoxed every single time.

Our away performances are a concern. Bar Ebbsfleet (worst side in the division), we’ve really struggled.

Fully expect DB to moan about our quality in “both boxes”. Poor defending, poor final ball, poor finishing.

We get something out of that game with Kabamba, Tavares and Browne. Injuries are a joke.

Entertaining and competitive game.
Disappointing to get into several dangerous positions yet lack the quality to turn any openings into goals.

A record of two wins against three anticipated top teams doesn’t look so bad but we have work to do to become the finished article.

Looking forward to the next game. Come on Bees.

We can all agree that we need to sign a striker to cover Kabamba. However we could have had any striker you care to name on the pitch and we'd have still been 1-0 down after 6 minutes.

It was an entertaining match between 2 sides who will be up there this season. Their comms were impressed with us although they did comment late on how when things weren't working for us, DB didn't change anything and his subs were just replacing like with like.

Now just looking ahead to Tuesday.

No they're not, it just adds insult to injury.

Can't believe we didn't score in that game but that's where we are. In those tighter games you really need someone with that ruthless edge in front of goal but ours are injured and we haven't replaced them. If we continue not replacing them, we can't expect much more. I think this was a better performance against this opposition than we've had in previous years where at times we've been completely outplayed but ultimately that means little.

The bit of hope I have is that often teams that have done well in this division recently (last year or two aside) have had similarly stuttering starts. My gut says that we should get better as the season goes on and if we can get a run together and pick up ahead of steam, plus get injured players back we could be in business. But maybe I'm being too optimistic. That's a lot of 'ifs' and we don't get forwards either back from injury or added to the squad then this could turn into a whole season of 'ifs'.

Watched on NLTV and although I missed their first goal I thought we did alright on first half, just lacked a final ball. Let’s not panic !

My first game of the season, and not a vintage performance. Gateshead will be pleased to come away from the game with a comfortable win.

I don't think we played badly but the final ball just wasn't clinical enough.

For the conceded goal there was an ambitious shot from outside the area which Hayes comfortably saved. Unfortunately he palmed it out too centrally and the Gateshead forward responded quickest.

If we're to take any heart out of the game we weren't outplayed by a team that has its eye on the title.

There's no reason why we can't bounce back with a couple of home fixtures, although Alty will be a good test after their recent 4 0 win.

Convincing of what? I just have a different opinion to you. I think a combination of Brennan’s tactics, decision-making and game management isn’t to the standard of that of a championship winning manager. He’s the Gareth Southgate of non league. Great bloke, great recruitment but just doesn’t have the minerals ala Paul Cook, Phil Parkinson or Dave Challinor at Stockport to get us over the line. That’s my opinion and I don’t think it’s that far fetched or leftfield to be honest.

Lucky I’m not the media lad raising questions to his face, I’m sure it’d turn sour in seconds and I’d be told I’m breaking ranks with the ‘togetherness’

Hayes parried it out but then a Gateshead attacker and Barnet defender contested the ball it looked like we got a nick on it to prevent a shot but all that did was put the ball into Whelan's path who couldn't miss. Looks like yet again our home form will be key could really do with improving things on the road.

My main worry is that we remain error prone and too slow at the back to play the way DB wants to against a quick, pressing opponent. Every time we come up against a team with quick forwards who press high the same happens.
Profligacy in front of goal is not helping but at the same time we can't rely on scoring three or four goals away from home to win games every week. Clean sheets win you titles and we are not keeping anywhere near enough to win the league.
Teams that win the league also tend to win whether they play well or not, we have an irritating habit of losing whenever the performance dips even a little bit.

That’s the craziest comparison I’ve ever heard. Southgate was a dinonsaur tactically, but knew how to set up a defence pretty well. Brennan is forward thinking, attack minded and most of the games we’ve played under him our entertaining. Also add to the fact Stockport Wrexham and chesterfield had the biggest and best squads by far.

And with analysis such as ‘not having the minerals’, it’s no wonder you’re not doing our interviews

Of course, just a statement of bemusement.
