Clearly so many of you don't have a passionate bone in your body nor know what it's like to be an artist with a vision. One that works their arse off only to be met with crap from people who are supposed to be pushing you in the direction of victory.

That said, I'm sure in the cold light of day he will feel he went a bit far, and I'm sure he's aware that the majority of fans do have brains and actually understand the game and what he's done for the club.

Overall, though. I empathise fully.
Thank you very much. I’d rather have this than some fool like Kewell who doesn’t care one bit about our club. You don’t get interviews like DBs tonight without someone having care and determination for success for the club. In the moment, maybe he felt it was too much or maybe not, but at the end of the day we all have a duty to get behind the side!
As we’ve seen over the past 3 years the interviews are extremely emotional, and it’s on you if you take it personally…

Maybe he should have been clearer that he was only talking about a minority - although I'd have thought that was the only conclusion anyone would take - but I am 100% behind DB's sentiment. The amount of whinging on here when the team are playing great, entertaining football, with a lot of new faces, many of whom are better than we've seen before, and reasonable results, despite a load of injuries that we would not have coped with at all in previous seasons, amazes me.

I'm sure there are some valid criticisms, but the posters who only criticise without recognising the good things that DB have brought must irritate. It is also striking that some of these are the ones who seem to have taken most offence at DB's interview...

I also find it ironic that this had boiled over at the time when we are playing some of the most entertaining football I’ve ever seen at the Hive :D

Irrespective of whether what he is saying is fair, or accurate, there is a professional, responsible and calculated way to do these things, and this is not it. He is one of the main faces of the club, should view himself as a role model for younger fans, and this kind of outburst is completely unacceptable. If this was a Premier League club he would probably lose his job as the club’s board would view him as alienating their paying customers. Whether Kleanthous feels the same remains to be seen, but the whole outburst suggests he is feeling the pressure of being the pre-season favourites for the league.

Great group of players, brilliant character shown yet again. Fantastic manager.

But we do need another striker and improve that concerning away form

I think him saying it pretty much word for word how it is, is refreshing and makes him a pretty good role model actually. The importance of honest and clear communication. Also inviting fans to have a chat with him. All very reasonable to me.

I didn't see him use racist/ profane/ sexist language or anything else. Watch it back and I think you'll find it hard to disagree with a single word he said.

ImageImageImage - he is fuming.

I think I like it.

I so nearly went in that stand today - but it doesn’t seem to be going very well does it. How thick are some people apparently berating him & the team etc at 1-0 down?

Actually a shame as the singers in legends I thought were fairly loud & definitely supportive, he’s let the minority behind him blur the support of the majority opposite him. Honestly it was pretty positive in legends wasn’t it??

Think the SA should drop him a message tomorrow!
What the fuck is he on about! A poor overall attendance but at least 70 AB who were loud and consistent with vocal support throughout the 90. Wild scenes in Block E when the winner went in. Can only assume a few individuals were in his ear from the terrace and he’s took it personally. In block E the crowd were willing the ball into the net.

Yes, I think he is right in what he says and he has the right to say it. The negativity at this club gets a bit much at times.

What a great win! We move on

From a footballing perspective chapman continues to impress. Found out recently that he was a member of the England youth squad who won the u20 World Cup, alongside £60m Solanke, Tomori, Calvert-Lewin and other full internationals. The class is evident.

Cropper attempting a Rabona finish at 1-1 when we needed a goal was very brave! I think it was a handball afterwards but to try that at that stage tells me he has no faith in his weak foot!

Fully behind DB on his interview there. You could tell he wanted to punch a wall the way he was fixing his glasses every five seconds. I do have to disagree with him on one matter, the beer is absolute ass - good beer can be had at this level. I know some people do not drink but I only really have an adult beverage watching the Bees on a weekend.

Have no issue with what he said or how he said it.

I do think though that some of the criticism towards his approach to the games has been fair. Having an opinion and expressing it is part of being a fan and we’ll be here long after he’s packed up and moved on.

But there’s a way to go about having an opinion and a time for it, and slagging off the players and/or management when they’re behind in a game obviously isn’t helpful.

Seems like it’s just frustration about another pitiful home attendance. He is however a professional and berating the fans that have turned up isn’t helpful. Hope this can be swept under the carpet and we can all move on. Great win!

Manager's interview.

Like some others, I hear justified frustration and passion.

Yes he should be realistic about the fact that (a minority of) moaners will be found at any club, understand that constructive criticism and debate is a healthy part of the game, and recognise that those who did show up are not to blame for the pitiful attendance.

But on the whole he is well within his rights to defend his record and team and point out what good football we have enjoyed for the past 2+ years. Absolutely no need to pander to entitled "paying customers" who think they can say what they like without consequence or challenge.

I am sure everyone here just wants to see the team do well, but it does sometimes feels like people become weirdly intoxicated by the first hint of failure or frailty. Hopefully those that are so inclined are big enough to take him up on his open door offer.

"we never gave in...we'd like our supporters to never give in"
The least we can do. Perfectly possible to do so without burying your head in the sand as to the question marks that will inevitably remain over any team challenging for honours in this highly competitive er competition.

Let me add that I would be irate were he to be sacked for saying this.
