I get his frustration but alienating a dwindling support isn't really a good tactic. He's let about 10 odd so fans get to him, every fanbase has a selection of moaning fans, it's not just unique to this club.

If he wants to go up the ladder and work at bigger clubs he's going to have to deal with a lot more noise from a fanbase than little old Barnet.

I think it's a brilliant interview and this negativity isn't something new, but something that has been hidden from him because the fans have been further away and out of earshot, and the same negativity doesn't happen at away games.

This isn't a Hive thing by the way and existed, (certainly in the Main stand at Underhill), with small numbers of fans being hugely negative and especially at individual players. It's always seemed strange to me.

I've been critical of DB's interviews in the past, a little when he singled out individual players, but especially so when he was rude to the media bloke, but he's bang on the money here.

From my (very limited), experience of going to away games, I've always thought that our away fans are MUCH more positive than the home fans. It's like the lads and lasses who go away wouldn't bother to do it if all they were going to do is moan for 90 mins, but there are honestly some who like having a moan for most of the game at home games.

The issue is with a mostly empty stadium you hear everything, and individuals can be singled out. The support can be negative and I think some fans think we have a given right to win this league. This team is really on the up and deserve better support in numbers and positivity, let’s put that right on Saturday.

Didn't bother me in the slightest. All fair points IMO.

About time we had an open evening with DB and TK to exchange views maybe. They are usually quite civilised. Fans feel frustrated that they do not seem to have a way to ask questions - and get answers. This forum is full of the same questions re injuries, tactics, recruitment policies etc.

Glad he's highlighted it, and I always prefer an honest interview as opposed to the robotic cliches you get in this game. DB always gives an honest view and clearly cares.

Going a goal down early on happens, and supporters should rally the team. After the past 2 seasons, surely our glasses should be half full, not half empty?

We are home again this Saturday. What are we going to do to fill that stand up?

Dean isn't only person fed up with the negativity in the stadium, at the Forest Green game it was shoot shoot and yesterday forward forward! Think I need to buy some ear defenders as it thoroughly annoying!
This team and manager have proven time and time again over the past 26 months that the game isn't over until the referee blows for fulltime - just be patient and trust the team. For some reason this is more apparent at midweek games with smaller crowds so worryingly that's our hardcore support !!

When our recent history is Allen ball then it's not very surprising that some associate success with getting the ball forward as quickly as possible and largely bypassing midfield.

I really like the way we play, but the soft goals we concede are a dampener on the season so far.

I'd rather have more goals than the other team at the final whistle than more goals than the opposite team early, sit back and allow the other team to get back at us and deny us the win.

Sorry for me DB is being childish, blaming a few supporters for shouting 'foreward' and to mention that players read social media and see negative comments, as he mentioned Hayes, not sure how he would handle a club with 10,000- 60,000 moaning such as Man Utd, were 30,000 walked out well before the end of the game, supporters be it National league or premier league expect more than they maybe should, but they pay the entrance fee and are entitled to voice there views. And to say if they don't like the great football his side are producing then he will walk if that is what they want. Maybe Dean should contact Eric Ten Hag and hear the pressure from supporters, media ex players are saying. Either he or the club choose to keep supporters in the dark over injuries, lack of strikers, etc and then don't like it when supporters voice 'why have we not brought in a back up to Kabamba since last season. The new stand behind his dug out has only just been there for four games, so this is not a on-going issue.

I’ve got no issue with him calling out a tiny minority shouting at him during the game, if they crossed a line. I do have an issue with him repeatedly suggesting the issue is the entire fan base, which is completely untrue and potentially damaging. “All I hear is negativity”? Does he not hear all the support then? Or the chants of “Deano” at the end of most games, including last night? He should know better than to attack the entire fan base because he’s angry at some heckling by a few people last night.

It’s also clearly ridiculous to suggest that legitimate criticism of the running of the supporters’ bar, or discussion of players’ form on social media, is somehow out of order or in any way linked to the performance of the team. That is all part of football and players and managers have to be able to handle it, assuming it doesn’t cross the line into abuse. Plus, which does he think is more damaging to a player’s confidence: a couple of social media posts by fans or getting constantly slated by their manager in interviews?

Similarly, blaming the lack of a striker on fans not spending enough on beer and sweets is obviously ridiculous given that we have one of the bigger budgets in the league and when he himself said only a few weeks ago that there is money available, including for paying fees for players if required.

DB has been a very good manager for us, has us playing some of the most entertaining football I’ve ever seen at Barnet and deserves our gratitude and respect, which I believe he has. That doesn’t mean he is immune from any challenge or criticism, like over the ongoing lack of a striker. Even the best managers in the world get challenged on certain decisions or elements of their approach - it doesn’t mean people are suggesting he’s a terrible manager or that we’d be better with someone else or that we don’t appreciate what he’s done for the club - it’s just part of football and part of the job. The interview wasn’t passionate, it was angry and hostile and once again involved him lashing out at somebody, only this time it was supporters rather than individual players or the media guy. As I say, if that had been directed at a few fans who deserved it then it would be one thing but there no good can come of slagging off and at times mocking the entire supporter base, especially when he has no legitimate grounds to do so.
