And to say if they don't like the great football his side are producing then he will walk if that is what they want. Maybe Dean should contact Eric Ten Hag and hear the pressure from supporters, media ex players are saying. Either he or the club choose to keep supporters in the dark over injuries, lack of strikers, etc and then don't like it when supporters voice 'why have we not brought in a back up to Kabamba since last season. The new stand behind his dug out has only just been there for four games, so this is not a on-going issue.
They keep fans in the dark about injuries so they can keep the opposition in the dark. Can’t do that in the premier league when a million reporters have inside sources at a club. No one knew Browne would be back yesterday and he popped up with the winning goal. Alty wouldn’t have prepared for him playing.

You make some reasonable points but then ruin it by your comparison to Erik Ten Hag. You might as well compare running the corner shop to running Sainsbury's PLC. ETH knew exactly what he was taking on when he took the job. Maybe Deano would find it easier to cope if he was paid in a year what ETH gets in a week.

Personally I found this quite enjoyable, particularly the slightly psychopathic Martin Allen-esque vibe to the whole thing. Even the reference to coming in for a cup of tea is straight out of the MA playbook!

I've got no real issue with DB calling out the moaning at The Hive, it's incredibly tiresome to listen to - and is usually from people who have no idea what they're talking about (in my opinion, of course).

Interestingly, I was looking through an old programme from around when John Still 'moved upstairs' back in 2000/01. There's a reference to the negativity in (I think) the chairman's notes, and an interview with the injured Warren Goodhind is quite critical of the moaners in the Main Stand.

We've never hit the heights of Still's two 7th-place League Two finishes in the 20+ years since, so it perhaps shows that people have no idea how good they have it when things are going well!

(And the football now is a whole lot better than it was back then!)

The one part of Brennan's interview that I think is slightly misguided is the reference to attendances. Our core supporters (most people watching the video) do turn up week in, week out, the issue is that we haven't grown that support (quite the opposite). That's not really the responsibility of the fans, that's on the club.

If I have an independent bookshop that I really love, I can suggest to my friends to go there to buy their books, but ultimately it is down to the shop itself to grow its customer base, market itself etc. It's the same with crowds at Barnet IMO.

I too wish we had bigger crowds to enjoy the high quality football on offer — DB and the players deserve it — but having a go at the few people who actually do turn up just seems incredibly counter-productive.

I really like the way we play, but the soft goals we concede are a dampener on the season so far.
I don't seem to remember too many people basking in the warm glow of the glorious football we played under Mad Dog in League 2 before he left.

Success in league 2 last happened nearly 30 years ago so I doubt it's his years as our manager in league 2 that are seen as success, unless you count surviving relegation battles.

Someone needs to GIF/Meme that look down the eyes saying 'Character!'. TV gold.

If DB is expecting big crowds during his tenure, he'll be disappointed. No amount of entertaining football will change the fact we're playing in the wrong part of town and attendances are down about a third on what they should be. It is what it is.

A fantastic passionate interview - I thought it was brilliant

I do agree with ET - we need to try and get a Q and A sorted and the committee is working on trying to make this happen

Disappointing that nobody has set up a GoFundMe page for the chairman's grandkids. If I'd know that things were that desperate I'd have battled on at halftime to try and buy a beer.
I want to be good, is that not enough.

But I just can’t reconcile the fact he accuses fans of moaning / being negative when at one point during the game I heard him call Shelton “a f***ing idiot”, then launches into the most negative diatribe possible after the game. Undermines the message somewhat.

One fact of life is there will always be people who criticise what you do. DB has definitely raised the bar and is perhaps a victim of his own success. He should be owed some slack from supporters (which is what he wants, and expects), and I’d never heckle him during a game. But even Guardiola probably has to listen to a few whingers then they’re 1-0 down. That’s just football.

As for social media, when has that been anything other than a cesspool of negativity? If a couple of harsh comments are affecting us then I’d have to question our mentality.

I too wish we had bigger crowds to enjoy the high quality football on offer — DB and the players deserve it — but having a go at the few people who actually do turn up just seems incredibly counter-productive.
Anyone who complains about managers swearing at players has evidently never played football

To be fair, he makes it quite clear that he is referring to some people in the section right next to him and not the fan base as a whole.
I wasn’t there last night but I stood in that section for the previous two home matches and did not notice any moaners in the section then. I too find the “Get it forward” crowd tiresome.

For the 1.5 years that Martin Allen was our permanent manager in League 2 we never looked like going down and when he left for Eastleigh we were on the cusp of the play off positions.

That's how I remember it too, but I also remember "us" not being overly happy about the style of football we were playing at the time and most not being overly bothered when he left. (Granted we were a little more bothered when he nicked Togwell, Bondz & Muggles to go with him & then also signed Stacky back from India).

Yep except I think Bondz was sold before Allen went and then Allen binned him some time after he got there.
