Re: Braintree (Hive) The Cheer Up Seething Dean Match Thread
Just watched Dean's post-game interview and again it's an absolute belter, (and I'm not being sarcastic because I love it). Digs out most of the defenders at various points and in particular targets Oluwo, (who has probably been one of our more consistent players this season. Certainly most consistent defender). He also then digs out Steady.
We know that Nicke is almost back and obviously Browne played 38 mins to go with his 16 mins mid-week, so with Brunty and Chapman in such good form, he's really trying to push Stead to that next level, (despite him being our top goal-scorer).
Browne should have a 2nd goal to go with his mid-week winner and he, (and Nicke), must be absolutely licking their lips at the chances we're creating. I said that we should have scored 10 today and maybe that's a tiny exaggeration, but we definitely should have scored 7.
I like that we're not rushing Browne into the squad and after 16 and then 38 I still don't expect him to start on Saturday..... although with it being 85%ers, the revenge of the ex does make it attractive.

Very good first half, not the best second half. We’ll play worse, we’ll play better, but job done. Big John’s still got it.
I hope we’re forensically studying Dagenham’s performance.

Bees are top goal scorers in the NL with 19 goals.
FGR, Dagenham and Gateshead all have 17 goals.

I found Deano's interview strange. How on earth did he think that performance was worse that Maidenhead away? What do others who attended both matches think?
Re: Braintree (Hive) The Cheer Up Seething Dean Match Thread
DB was his entertaining self on the sidelines this afternoon, although at times I do fear for his blood pressure and health, you could hear him in the dressing room at half time from the standing area toilets the players can be left with no doubts what he wants from them. Stead was his big target today he berated him time and time again for his movements and decision making I'm guessing this stems from the fact stead wants to be a central striker and DB is pushing for him to improve but with Nicke nearly back and Browne around can't see him playing there again for a while now. Thought coker had a really good first , like Shelton who was solid again today as well as others mention brunt, glover, chapman all decent. We are making the hive a fortress again let's pickup the away form starting on Saturday.

Maidenhead was the worst performance I'd seen. Today we were a bit sloppy in front of goal, although we were to an extent against Maidenhead, but there is no way that today was worse.
I want to be good, is that not enough.

Don't agree. We turned the ball over badly in midfield for both goals in the first half. Made a howler for the goal in the second half. Missed three gilt edged chances and made countless bad decisions in the final third. There is no way that today was miles worse as a performance.
It's borderline gaslighting for Brennan to suggest so.

Today the high line worked 'well enough' to contain their pressure. Though if anyone with a bit more accuracy than Effiong had those chances on the counter attack, it could have been a very different outcome. Braintree aren't a bad side at all, I think they can stay up.AidanGRH wrote:Maidenhead was the worst performance I'd seen. Was brilliant to see Akinde back at The Hive. A real gentleman and a Barnet legend.

Spot on, I must of watched different game at Maidenhead, so many times they attacked down our left hand side, we had three bookings bringing there players down going down our left with high back line, today he said he warned Oluwo of getting turned by Big John, but it had to happen if playing high back lind, and as other's have said DB won't change this, but we have conceded
5 more than York, 3 more than Forest Green, 6 more than Rochdale, we need to stop goals going in, we cannot expect to score 2-3 just to get something out of ganes. This is not negative post as love the foitbalk, the passing and movement, just would be nice to keep a clean sheet.
Re: Braintree (Hive) The Cheer Up Seething Dean Match Thread
I don’t like our approach of trying to walk the ball into the net. We’d score more if players were allowed to shoot. DB does my head in with that kind of stuff.

Re: Braintree (Hive) The Cheer Up Seething Dean Match Thread
I think, (feel free to correct me), is that DB is talking about "patterns of play" when he says how well we played or not. There is no doubt that we were wide open at times against Maidenhead, (hence the scoreline), but for the most part we still controlled the game and created loads of chances with our patterns of play.
I think the suggestion is also that Maidenhead were a stronger team at home than Braintree were away. Maidenhead made us look bad, but we made Braintree look good at times.
Certainly at the start of the 2nd half today we seemed to lose our way a little and it's this period I think that DB was particularly unhappy with. We weren't controlling the ball or the game as we usually do. The other thing to consider is that for all their good play, Maidenhead really scored from our mistakes. They didn't open us up in the main. (We opened ourselves up). Today was different in that they created their opportunities because we weren't dominating the ball.
I hope that makes sense. I think "control" of the game and patterns of play is everything to DB and that's what he's largely basing a performance on, (over and above individual mistakes that we saw at maidenhead).
Thoughts>?

It's turning into a post match interview battle between Dean and Marc White on YouTube after Dorking were knocked out of the Cup by Horsham for second year running. Players and some fans thrown under the bus...
