Thankfully the A1 re-opened at around 1pm, just in time for us to sail down the motorway from Stotfold!

Both girls enjoyed the afternoon. Eldest one is now 15 and actually watched the game, properly, unlike years ago when she just came to tag along with me! Youngest is 6, and she did pretty well for her first game.

Sun was out, stayed dry, lots of young kids got to see a proper game, goals, and a home win. All in all it seemed like the day was a good one for Barnet FC.
My 7-year-old enjoyed it and wants to go back. Only pox was the 3.5 hour round trip with public transport breaking at one or other of the 8-leg round trip to north west London. Underhill would have been about an hour each way and two steps. But a good day was had.
And of course he won't be properly tested until he's watched a 9-1 home defeat against Peterborough including Graz lobbing our keeper from the halfway line :geahh:

That’s funny, I thought they were completely useless.

Fair enough. Only missed Forest Green this season at home and I thought they looked controlled very well organised. Compared likes of others like Braintree and Southend who were chaotic at best.

I thought they looked well organised but toothless. That said we did well to keep Nick Naughton quiet and not let him get any shots away. Can tell he’s a real player though.

In all fairness, I can't see Graz doing that now...
Glad your little one enjoyed the experience. That's what today was all about. Kids wanting to come back again.

I always think back to my first season as a young fan, and in 90/91 we had a decent FA cup run at home. Heybridge Swifts (4q), Chelmsford City, Northampton Town and then Pompey. As good as the league campaign was, that cup run was epic as a non-league club and really cemented my experience at 10 years old. Hopefully this years draw will give others that same opportunity, and maybe we can repeat today's offer for another league match.

A one-off promotion isn't a game changer. Long term fans need multiple experiences to get properly hooked, in my view.

Barnet showing all the flair of Rupert-the-Bears trousers, but lots more style!

Solid, routine, standard, not the most exciting description for a match but key for a title winning team, it’s not always going to be 90 minutes of flair or last minute winners

Defence now really looks like a unit, back 3 are quality, how many points is a fully fit Tavares worth?

Greta Nicki is on fire and thought Bailey Hobson made a real difference firming up and bringing additional energy into our centre mid, prefer him in that position than behind the forward

After Boston we will go through a much trickier run of fixtures starting with Solihull and York away so key we go into those with a win and a cushion.

Thought Fylde were well organised. Closed off our passing lanes, in the first half especially. Their number 10 was a good player and could easily play higher. They should have had a pen first half, but I think we would still have had enough.

The clean sheets are racking up now and with difference makers upfront, that augers well.
I want to be good, is that not enough.

Hobson only has another league game and then the FA cup match before his loan ends. An extension, perhaps?

Looked a penalty to me.
For me all 3 big shouts were penalties, 2 for us although one could’ve been a free kick and theirs was stonewall

I hope so. Thought he was very impressive. Shelton was excellent as usual and I was a bit concerned to see him come off after what looked like a really harsh yellow card. But Hobson was more than competent in plugging the gap. - looks a ‘real player’.

100% agree with your views on Half time activities for the kids, Handing out Barnet balloons to the kids, always felt that the club feels ' we got them hear that's our job done ' agree far more.could be done to make it far more enjoyable expert for the kids, to increase the chance they would be asking to come back again, we are not talking about having to spend money, it's just being far more inventive in what could of been put on.

I thought it showed how important Kabamba is to the team. He’s become a talisman like Big John Akinde. Everything improved so much when he came on.

There were a family group near us who looked like newbies. They seemed to enjoy the day and must have spent well over £50 on food and refreshments , probably more. Let’s hope some of the new comers attracted by this successful offer come back.

Coker must’ve racked up a steady number of assists since joining us now, anyone know?

First game of the season, and got my daughter a burger, definitely a very improvement on seasons gone past along with the queuing system. Obviously couldn't handle the inevitable half time queues but that will be tough (answer: pie, tea and coffee van 🙂).

Both bars as poorly managed, planned, manned and stocked as ever with hardly anything available on draught. Needless to say I missed the opener as I'd only just got served (anyone who comes out with the line why do you need to drink at games misses every possible point!). The lack of available staff is a red herring having been to half a dozen Spurs who have 2000 temporary stuck each game - what a difference 10 more bar staff would make (enough to comfortably cover their costs for sure). Not whining as brought a couple extra people, 2 kids, pre/HT/post beer and food as an exchange for £5 tickets!

Was lovely to see a fairly full Legends, sun and most importantly a win. I don't think it was a comfortable win, it was a Fylde penalty, they easily could have scored a couple from our high line, but we looked like a classy team not quite clicking. I'm loving Stead as the new Hatchy with better end product!

I may be wrong but think all 5 clean sheets we’ve had have been gained in the 7 matches Tavares has started. Big player
